When its summer, and you are depressed because the off season events are still a month away, and build season is still many months away :(
Also, it is sad when your team director/teacher is away, and you have no meetings all summer...

When your on a group retreat :p with some other non-robotics friends, where you have to wear colored t-shirts to signify your group, and you assume that you're at robotics and ask people about their teams.

That actually happened to me, :ahh: i walked up to a girl in yellow and literally screamed "Hi nice to meet you I'm from the Dragons team 1991".
Needless to say she looked at me weirdly :confused: the ran away.

...when you get to college and ask every single engineering major if they were in FIRST.

...when you're sitting in class and your professor mentions something that reminds you of robotics and you begin to theorize on how that thing can be added to your team to make it function better

...when the internet is out in your dorm so you spend 3 hours writing a business proposition to improve your team's outreach efforts.

....when the first thing you do in your new college town is find out if the local high school has a FIRST team.

...when you're in an ice breaking activity where the teams are divided up into red and blue and you instinctively start to cheer "red alliance!"

...When you knew where you were going to college more than a year before going and already looked to see if there are any nearby teams, find out there isn't, and start thinking about to get a team or two started at nearby schools.

...find out your college holds the state championship competition for the FLL and already are planning to volunteer.

when every member on your team bought ice cream from the machine at IRI to see the mechanisms go to work! and as soon as someone makes a selection, everybody crowds around the machine to see it go!

I've done that...it wasn't at a robotics function, but it was with robotics people :D And also at an engineering camp...there was a pretty neat drink machine that did that. IT EVEN LIT UP!! /geekiness

I was helping my mother at her store. I was setting up fixtures. I starting drilling screws, and hammering nails, and I sighed because made me think of build season.

When you find out the college you hope to attend has a FIRST team. And you run throughout the house yelling, "MIT HAS A FIRST TEAM!!!!!!!!!1!"

When nobody's surprised that you do things like that.

When you laugh at drama within other groups, because your team has a "Everyone is single while we attend competitions" rule.
