Machinery tends to make chips fly into weird places. Lathes and mills are particularly good at this, though drill presses are skilled as well. I've pulled many a metal chip out of the pocket of the hoodie I wear while using the lathe (which I wear so that I don't freeze and don't ruin ALL of my hoodies).

-when you're hands are extremely dirty from all the coolant mixed with metal shards.
-when you have many cuts on you're hand and you don't know where they came from
-when you anxiously wait through every school day to get to the robotics lab

You find time to mentor multiple teams (and still want to do more)
When you think grease and aluminum shaving covered hands are perfectly fine to eat with but wash thoroughly when you get anything else on them

...You cherish the signature on your shirt from Dean or Woodie more than family treasures.

...You really think that your mentors are more important than your parents.
