~ In physics you're learning about wavelengths and frequency and you learn that a CD goes from 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz. You stare at "CD" for a while, thinking, CD? Frequency? Why is this making no sense? before it actually dawns on you that it's a music CD they're talking about, and not the website. (It was early. I have physics at 7:30 in the morning. D=)
~ During swim camp over the summer, you have a break between lunch and the afternoon practice from 12:45 to 1:30. And every afternoon, without fail, you have a sudden outburst at 1:11. ~ You make excuses to visit the tech lab at school whenever possible. ~ You only have one friend that isn't in robotics. ~ You have dreams about competitions (and chickens). |

I am in my calc lecture right now and the teacher brought out a over head projector, and to make it so we can't see the overhead sheet on the screen she put a green sheet of paper over it. At first glance I was like "omg why does she have a green light down there?!"

You watch the final four in the GA dome and spend most of it thinking how weird it is to see some other event crown its champions there. And that most of the country doesn't know that FIRST will be taking over that floor in about a week and a half. But for those of us who do know, this Championship was just the warmup.

-When you and all your team mates are wearing the team t-shirt and gold metal the Monday after you win your regional. Other students give you weird looks, think you are a nerd. Yet in your mind, you know that you, and not the jocks or skaters, are the future of the world.
-When you as a senior, is crying at home not because your team had a bad year. No, your team had just won two regionals and is headed towards national in one week. But because your last season on the team is coming to an end. -When you have so much adrenaline from a bad call against your alliance team during the previous quarter-final match that your freshly smashed finger that is dripping with blood feels just a little warm. -When all your A’s drops to F’s because you’ve been living at school for the 6 weeks of build season. -When the only reason that you don’t want to move out of your little town and on to college is the feeling of emptiness when you think about life without robotics. -When your friends stop calling your cell phone from January to February because they know exactly where you’ll be. -When you think that the EXIT sign is green so that robots can get out during a fire. -When your school’s robotics team does better than your football team, which took state. -When you are driving home from a regional and see a car dealership with cars displaying on platforms and comments that the ramp to the platforms is too steep. |

675 members wore their shirts and medals (or most of us did, anyways, who went to Davis), but everybody knew what it was for. That's what you get for going to a school with about 250 students and no other sports teams. =D

you know you are overdosed on first when you are trying to get the robots out of your head, but the only thing to replace them is spiked hair and segways.
you still have the bracelet on from the team social, and you really want someone to invent RoboRiddlen so that your robot can focus on the light long enough to go. your "rival" school gives you a ride to competition, and since both teams have FIRST in common, there is no fighting, and you cheer like crazy when they win a sportsmanship award. |

You're in the Atlanta airport, and you look around and see a good 3 or 4 teams...
You're in the line for security and go OMG THE THUNDERCHICKENS ARE HERE! and the 5 people in line between you and said team look at you like you're crazy. You step through the metal detector and it starts beeping, you start to wonder what could set it off...and the TSA agent points to your "Dave says that's pimp" button... he says "I'm gonna have to take that" "...You're giving me that back, right?" "Honey, it's just a pin" "NO, it's not JUST A PIN!" ....you arrive at Newark and get really sad that there's no team there. [p.s. I MISS ATLANTA!!!] |

when it feels weird not spending every day of your life with every single member of the team (inc advisors)...*sniff sniff* we're going home tomorrow... 10 hour flight to Hawaii
when dibs, cooked pizza (unlike Mr. Olive's pizza from Murphy's pizza), and peanut m&ms make up your entire diet two members of our team have hats covered entirely with different teams buttons just from championships... another could probably fill a shirt completely... actually, the kids with the hats could fill at least one shirt each with their buttons, their hats have tails... when you know you will miss your teammates, even though we have about a week to perfect our botball bots before our comp, and therefore will be spending a lot of time together |

(speaking of which, PUT THE FISH IN THE CUP!) -When you put a 1501 (Team THRUST) pin on your hat because you're going on a plane (The pin is basically flight wings) -When you come home from Atlanta.... with 16lbs of buttons. -When your voice is so horribly messed up from Atlanta... and you only want to keep cheering. -When you see 114 in more than 5 places in a single day and each time think: "Hey, Eagle Strike!" |

Your school basically bans every website and you personally go to the IT and get him to unblock ChiefDelphi and then spend your class time pouring over the threads because its the only website that works
You keep imagining people in team shirts that you know but you blink and realize that the shirt has no numbers on it and get depressed. Your friends are sick off you bursting out in class "awww I miss them!!!" because you always talk about your FIRST friends. |
