You know you've overdosed on FIRST:
-When the only reason you wake up every morning and go to school is to talk with your friends about what you'll do when you get to start working after school. Or -When the season is over and the only thing you can think of talking about with your friends is about FIRST. You know your friends overdosed when they are the one's to start talking to you about FIRST and you join them(then you know you are too). It happens to us in our team almost all the time. :D |

When you are at BMR, on Saturday, your team is doing great, and you have to leave to get back to Indianapolis for a winter guard competition. You put off leaving so long, that by the time you get back to the school, the guard is on the bus, and the bus is waiting for you.:p And on the way to the guard competition, you are wearing your guard shirt under your Cyber Blue jersey, along with your guard warmups. And then, you don't perform as well in the guard competition since you missed practices all week for the BMR.:ahh: And after the guard competition (which happened to be state prelims), you get on the bus and frantically call one of your team leaders, to find out how the team did. (Wearing your jersey again, and this time you ditched the warmups.) And then, you find out how well you did, and start jumping up and down on the bus and make everyone mad (except for the one guy on tarp crew who used to be in robotics). When asked by the guard captain, "What, you like robotics more than guard?" You boldy say, "Yes," and everyone ignores you and your excitement the whole way home.:D And even though your team did great you are still disappointed that you had to go to the guard competition and miss out on all the excitement and fun.:( And finally, you meet your team back at the school, because you feel the need to compensate for your absence by just being there (and helping them unload). YEP, I OVERDOSED ON FIRST; GOOD THING THERE ARE NO NEGATIVE EFFECTS.:D |

- when your homepage is Chief Delphi and you spend and hour looking through it before moving on to what you really got on the internet for - when you wish everyday there was only two weeks in between Championship and Kickoff again :D - when you keep writing on a sorta pointless thread ;) just because it is on Chief Delphi - when in the middle of championship eliminations (go Curie!!) and you call home (using someone else’s cell phone) to your little brother who has faithfully been watching and say "ha ha you’re not here!" - when the most used program on your computer is Inventor - when you look at your internet history and see that the last 8 weeks of internet sites are all FIRST related - when your having trouble not thinking of ways that you're overdosed on FIRST - when this is only your first year on the team and this is happening |

...everyone you encounter at work knows your face because they saw a picture of you with spiked purple hair posted in some newsletter... ...at work, people stop to talk to you more about your picture slideshow screensaver of the robot competitions more than they talk to you about your work... ...you buy a VEX kit and parts with all the spare change you have lying around (being young and single has benefits ;) ) just so you can invent new creative ways that push the envelope in your quests to terrorize your roomate's 80lb dog (4 motors, 1:14 gear ratio pulling the dog around as he sat on a rug, then was able to switch gears to a 5:3 and chase him around)... ...now the dog now realises you're trying to throw the ball to play fetch, not to throw it AT him, so maybe sometimes he brings it back to the robot instead of you... ...you hear a really cool song on XM and record it just so you can go back later and figure out how to do a team wrap-up or recruitment video with it and pictures/videos of this season... ...then you later talk with your boss about said video and he wonders if you're staying focused at work (doh!)... |

Nearly all the links on the "Recent Activity" box are all clicked. When you are sitting in Geometry and your math teacher says "Points CD" and it takes you a good 3 seconds to realize he is talking about the points on the arc of a circle, not Chief Delphi. You have homework due tommarow for said Geometry class and you are writing this post instead. (Mark would kill me if he read this.....) you can identify with every post on this thread, even though you're a part of a rookie team and have just finished your first year you dropped your senior project that was already under way in order to develop a new one that would basically make the team self-sustaining from now on even though you should be studying for the AP history test, you're working on your senior project and spending abominable amounts of time on CD when your AP English teacher has something about CDs (concrete details) up on the board at the beginning of the class, and immediately you have to seek out everyone in the class that remotely knows about CD and tell them about the new threads or posts that you found the previous night. Then when they ask you if you finished the homework, you smile, and know that they are more than aware of what you did instead. :rolleyes: when your parent meetings run 1-2 hours over and no one wants to reduce the number of meetings a week to 2 days because everyone is still going through withdrawal when your withdrawal is so bad that you just sit around at school anyways until the normal time that you would go home after robotics even though there is no scheduled meeting when other members of your team are doing the same thing when you realize that you have way too many answers for this thread and are going to force yourself to log off and go work on your senior project instead :yikes: |

you think that not having seen any robotics student in less than 3 hours means something has gone wrong... you attend your botball competition and you are the most spirited there... everyone looks at you weird when you paint your face and no one else does... you go see your adviser every day hoping to see any robotics student randomly sitting there... you think 2 hours of sleep is an accomplishment... your father buys a book related to robotics and you instantaniously relate to everything in the book... you wonder why dean kamen was not put into the book... |

I still have the band on from the team social, and when another team member noticed it, they said I should never take them off and just keep on adding them every year until my entire arm is covered wtih them...and now I really want to, even though it will probably drive people (especially my mom) crazy. Of course that just makes it even more fun.

You get home from school and the first thing you do is open the internet, in which your homepage is Chief Delphi, and you leave it on till you parents yell at you to go to bed, in which you stay online for another half hour before finally going to bed. You REALLY want to know what the genius idea is for the summer bot is, but isn't going to bother asking because you are going to hear about it tuesday. You take Japanese after school because you didn't do so hot last quarter, but the minute it reaches a B you are out of there for robotics like a shot. Your parents ask you which you which you plan to go to, Japanese after school or Robotics, and it takes you a second to realize what they want you to say. Instead of having debats on which football team is better with your friends, you have debates on which drive train is better, mecanum or swerve (go swerve!) hahaha, don't worry about it.
There was an ad or something for Jon Dudas on the big screens at the champs in Atlanta. He works at the patent office. Our team has been obsessed with the word dodeum (not actually a word, but a "creation" by a team member), so I guess the close connection set them off. When mentioned previously on this thread I believe, we were all astonished by a post acknowledging that we were not the only team to have noticed Jon Dudas. Therefore I really am not surprised that you have never heard of it. And it is definitely a sign to me that we have clearly overdosed on FIRST. Late nights create new words, and then more late nights and exciting competitions just take it to a whole new level!! :yikes: |

...the next week, you again spend about 15 minutes of the same class comparing why students should come to robotics in the fall rather than hassling with marching band tryouts/workouts all summer ...you realize that you wrote all of your essays for a summer program about robotics and weirdness...and it worked! ...you can finally talk about robotics in your German/English class without annoying the teacher ...you insert "If you were in robotics, you would know what we were talking about..." regularly into conversation to spark interest Okay, I've got an interesting one... This past weekend I was booking travel accomodations for when I go to CMU this summer. After booking my plane ticket I was searching for ground transportation from the airport to campus on the Port Authority website. Under the bus section I see Rack N' Roll under their customer info section and immediately think "OMG they have a FIRST bus! I must get on it! I don't care where it takes me!!" On my Spanish PALS yesterday, I filled up four or five of the necessary 15 sentences talking about robotics. The topic I was writing about was my daily routine.

When you are taking the Chairman's trophy your team won home for your graduation party, and you seatbelt it in to the front seat so that it couldn't possibly get hurt, or broken.

... when you are close to tears at the though of having to take off your bracelet from the after-party at the championships for the end of the year dance, and are seriously considering either figuring out how to get them back on, or just not taking them off.:rolleyes:
