You know you've been in FIRST too long when you try to try to code your sentences, send your friends emails in C++, and start organizing social activities with your FIRST friends as soon as you get out of your last FIRST meeting.

when even your non-FIRST friends are excited about your competition
when, a week before your regional, your fingers and toes are painted your team colors
when you clean out your car and find robot parts and zip-ties
when you don't complain about waking up at 5:00am 3 days in a row for a regional
when you have a conversation including blue cheese, Hawaii, awkward turtles, and the multiverse and it makes perfect sense
when you wear your team paraphernalia several days after the competition
when lunch is less important than strategizing
when you take off work, your only source of income, for 2 weeks straight for regionals
when you see your robotics coach for more consecutive hours in a week than you see your own parents

Let's see how did this go...
You find out at 9 p.m. the night before that you are picking up and delivering the trailer to the school for a big outreach downtown. So you oversleep by 15 minutes. Those are the 15 minutes that you would use to go hook up the trailer and get it down the road. You get ready and drive to the warehouse but instead of pulling in, you keep on driving until you are 1/2 way to school and realize that you have forgotten something. It's rush hour traffic so you are bumper to bumper as you turn around to retrieve the trailer. When you get to the warehouse you find out that your back left tire on your suv is totally flat. Flat. As in pancake. Luckily there is this really cool air compressor that is used for the trucks that haul feed. So the tire fills up really fast and off you head to school..and you're only 4 minutes late all total. Without coffee even.

When you're halfway across the world in the middle east supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and yet i still log onto the site and check it out even though i've been out of high school since 2006. Those of you at the NASA/VCU Regional, i'm pretty sure you all heard my shout out to my former team, Team 1610, during the competition.
