when you have to clean out your car before the upcoming competition this weekend -
you car has:
- a crate of window motors in the way back
- flags, signs, cases of water in the back seat
- a tool box containing the jack for the trailer and the rough drafts/outlines for a new handbook in the middle seat
- brochures, maps, newspaper articles, and material for an upcoming competition in the front passenger seat

Nothing that has to be cleaned out of the car belongs to me.

Heh. I've got two milkcrates full of programming notebooks in my car, plus (occasionally) a storage box filled with my vex robot. While I justify buying this mini-SUV so the whole family can fit in the car for vacations, I did check to see if it would fit a robot. Never did test that. Yet. (In the old days it was to make sure I could get sheets of plywood in the back. At least I've upgraded, but not as classy as my father, who kept his Chevette for the longest time just to transport his harpsichord around.)

I fear the day when my daughter reallizes shes in robotics only because her parents are both involved. She hasn't got to wendymom's level yet, but I've got two more years.

Hey, that was my old car. Yeah, probably could get a robot in there, but it was getting old and I didn't trust it for long trips. Had to buy a new car before going up to BAE.

Remove the legs and slide it right in, back seat down. I never did it, but my father claimed that was the only reason he kept the Chevette. It wasn't a monster, just a single manual Zuckerman harpsichord kit my father put together. (I think it's this one.)

You know you're overdosed on FIRST when you convince your English teacher to give you extra credit for going to robotics competitions. She gives extra credit for "supporting your fellow students" by going to stuff like football games, school musicals, etc, so I told her about FIRST and got it counted. So I got extra credit for Cal Games a few weeks back. :D

Well, we did the test today. Obviously Kia never referred to FRC rules before building their hatch. Next year's robot needs to be 1/8" shorter. Yes, that much. :( :( :( We had to use someone else's car to transport the robot.

And if she accepts it with glee, you know it was a match made in heaven! :)

Start freaking out because you have no time to prepare, and then realize FIRST is what you live and breathe so it's not a very big deal
and when you are giving the presentation to your team (made up of a lot of new members) along with a few other non FIRST people (school board president, superintendent of the district, asst. superintendent of the district, principal, parents of new members, a congressman, etc.) and when answering a question you throw out other teams names (thunder chickens and killer bees) without even thinking about it as an example of an alliance and five seconds later realize it was a bad idea because now half of the people are staring at you like you must be crazy, and a distinguished guest raises his hand and asks if he heard right when I said thunder chickens and asks for an explaination of what a thunder chicken is.

when you are 13-years old and you get a sponsor, start and organize and FTC team and spend hours researching vex and going on the vex forum and looking at previous robots (i did this for about 4 months before registration!)

you remember three or four digit numbers by teams, and while watching irobot, you think, wow, that is one heck of an autonomous program.

A Wacom tablet, for graphics (mostly robotics here too...)
