Gah! The building burning down!

That building was right next to us (we were at the Marriot Courtyard). That night, my room thought we smelled smoke, but we ignored it ("Do you smell smoke?","Yeah","Ok" *returns to CD*).

My mom evidently got about an hour of video of it and didn't even bother to contact me! And I brought 30 pounds of camera gear just in case such an event happened!

One of my students first spotted smoke as it obscured his view of the large cranes and then noticed the fire. We were about to call 911 when a helicopter, presumably from the police department, began to circle overhead and spotlight the site.

I was told it was a dormitory under construction for Georgia State University, but do not know where that information came from.

The fire burned for several hours. It was interesting to watch it move through the site. We were at the Hilton, watching from the 27th floor, and the smell of smoke permeated the hotel through its outward facing elevators. Ick.

I think I like this one better than the clear one.
