AP Exams

(I Know there is a forum about his but is from last year)
So how were those AP exams. Anybody positive they got a 5. ANyone positive they got a 1. Please don't do anything Illegal like discuss questions in this forum. I took the US History on today and I felt like my brain was going to explode

Re: AP Exams

This week really has been the worst for standardized tests.

In order of taking them:
English Language - it was alright...I'm not one for reading comprehension so probably 3/4 there
Spanish: 3/4 - mostly good but definitely a few things I could have done better
Calculus BC - 5 I think
History - :( I have no idea, I probably did terribly on the MC and helped bring it back up a bit with the essays

And I love the planning that College Board has...tomorrow is SATs! Luckily I don't have more APs next week - I know some people who do and I feel bad for them ( :p )

The exact opposite here. I thought my MC was pretty good but my essays were random and I would be suprised if I got a 3 on any of them

Re: AP Exams

Oh yeah, 1 hr 55 min to answer a DBQ and 2 short-response essays on the AP US History... that wasn't exciting, so I took a nap after finishing the first short-response and the DBQ.

I know I haven't got a 4 or a 5, likely a 3 though.

Re: AP Exams

I have two this year, wonderfully scheduled for next Monday and Tuesday. AP biology is monday, and I'm fairly certain I"m going to get a 5, as I'm in the 4 range already without essays on practice tests. AP US Government is another story, I'm somewhere between a 3 and a 4 at the moment, hopefully I can bring that up over the weekend.

same APs to take, less optimistic on my scores.
already took stats (okay) calc (ouch) and english (whatever).

i remember taking last year's us history and it stunk and i got a 2. who hoo.

Re: AP Exams

Finished my last AP of three this year (AP Eng, AP Java A (I'm not the programming type either), and AP US History). Some questions were easy, others were like running a drill through my hand. I'm never really one to predict how I did on tests, but I feel confident about java and eng, but the US history was... US history.

I must say I thought my head exploded after the history one too. I did enjoy my 15 minute cat nap at the end of the second part. Too bad coming home from Atl burnt me out that I didn't get as much studying as I wanted to. I'm just glad that its over!!...Now bring on Graduation!!

Re: AP Exams

I thought the Calculus BC exam was difficult - I wouldn't be suprised if I only get a 2 or maybe a 3. Hopefully the AB subscore will be decent, but I'm not really sure how that is weighed in.

I feel I did a good job with the Computer Science AB exam and I am hoping I at least will have a 4 on that one, although there was a decent amount of material on it that I had completely overlooked and did not study at all.

The biggest issue with AP exams for me was the fact that my school does not offer Calculus BC nor Computer Science AB courses (they have Calculus AB which I am taking this year and Computer Science A which I took last year), so I had to do a lot of studying on my own.

I was planning on taking Physics B but I decided not to. Again.. another one of the AP exams which my school does not have a course offering for.

Donut 06-05-2006 01:34

Re: AP Exams

Calculus AB wasn't very bad (I'm certain I got at least a 4), but was annoying preparing for it since I haven't had the class since December (we work in block schedules, classes only last 1 semester).

I take Physics C: Mechanics on Monday. We just finished simple harmonic motion (I believe the last thing we needed to learn for the test) today, so I'll be busy with all the practice tests this weekend.

Re: AP Exams

I've got AP Chemistry coming up. I feel pretty good about it (except for electrochem, I seem to have developed a block there, I don't know why) and am expecting from all the practice we've done either a 4 or a 5. APES is the week after (I think) and should be okay... apparently it has one of the lowest if not the lowest pass rate of any AP exam... we'll see.

Lol i took apwh... I hated it. Alslo we started late too.. I think it was our fault the contry was late?? The bus showed up late, the busdriver took us to wrong building ..walked for 1/2-1 mile and finally sat down to take the test.. i believe we started at 2 something lol....anywyas our proctor said that they called AP and said it was ok to take the test..

I underestimated an "AP" test and I would be lucky to make a 2. I took way too mcuh time on the MC so i had like 11 questions unawnsered in the end and a frined told me the last 10 were like a breeze... :(

Anyways . No College Credit for me :(

Re: AP Exams

I took,
Comp Sci A, fairly certain I got a 4-5,
French Language, 4-5 again
World History...err...hopefully 3-4

Re: AP Exams

APUSH was horrible. I think I got a 75%ish on the Multiple choice so that was good. However my essays were each shorter than 1 page and I didn't really understand what the DBQ asked. I just basically liste facts and stuff about the topic.

I have AP Physics B. I think I will get a 3. To say the least, our teacher wasn't the greatest.

AP Environmental Science should be pretty easy considering that on the practice tests without the essays, I have gotten like low to mid 90%.
Good luck to everyone.

Eugenia Gabrielov 06-05-2006 14:35

Re: AP Exams

Ahhhh APs:

Calculus AB - Very confident, 4-5
English Literature - Pretty confident, 4-5 again, I started feeling rushed on essays but made it OK. The Multiple Choice part went very well.
English Language - Same with English Lit except leaning more towards a 5

All I have left is Chemistry, which I'm still totally mixed about. I feel pretty confident about a lot of aspects, but in others I still feel kinda unsure, which is where studying comes in. :) I'll be taking the test on March 17 rather than 10th, as I will be at an academic competition all week next week.

Sgraff_SRHS06 06-05-2006 14:59

Re: AP Exams

Ditto.

AP French Language - I don't know. I did well on the FR section and parts of the MC, but I did not know how well I did on the listening part of the exam - 3/4
AP Calc BC - 4/5
AP English Literature (aka AP Lit) - 3/4 - Kicked butt on the MC, but bombed at least 1 of my FR's

Still to take -

AP Biology - Monday (should get a 4/5)
AP US Government & Politics - Tuesday (should get a 5)

AP Physics C M & AP Physics C E/M - Friday May, 19--(alternate exam because of conflict with AP Biology), should get a 4/5 on both

I'm with a lot of the BC people on the difficulty of the exam this year. I'll be making the hasty generalization that the Calc AB exam was easy for everyone here (who took it last year), but our scores are sort of inflated because 25% of the testakers received a 1 on the exam. So, that means that I don't know what the College Board is going 2 do this time.

JamesBrown 06-05-2006 21:28

Re: AP Exams

Calc AB was really easy, should be a 5 (didn't have to skip anything, and I was able to check all of my answers)

English Lit- I thought this was reall easy, the essays were very simmilar to essays I have written in the past

AP chem is all I have left, not 100 percent confident but I think a 3 is possible

I really wanted to take Calc BC but my guidence counsellor wouldn't let me even though I know I was ready (I had scored 4 or higher on every practice test I took)

Pavan Dave 06-05-2006 23:57

Re: AP Exams

yay? I get to write all essays next year when i take AP English Lit. Lol.. and the thing is I think i made a 1 (on scale of 0-4 ) on the TAKS a state test..which means i auto fail even if i make 100% on MC,..and i believe teachers get scores this week (or already have them) and so I find out if I have to take some remedial classes to learn how to write the engish essay, and i cant bear stupidity, the only plague of society. But thats my punishment for dozing off...

Jaine Perotti 07-05-2006 00:17

Re: AP Exams

I only took one this year, and only took one last year.

Last year I took US History, and I got a 4 - which is excellent because it will count for credit at my school.

This year, the only test I took was AP German Language - I think I did great on the multiple choice and writing sections, but totally blew the oral sections... I can't speak German fluently while under a 2 min time limit and am feeling stressed out...not my strength. Oh well. I'm probably looking at a 3 or a 4, and a 3 will get me credit (I get progressively more credits as my scores get higher).

Even though I am taking AP Calc, AP Statistics, and AP English, I decided not to take any of those tests. I didn't want to take Calc AB because I would have needed to get a 5 (I might have been able to pull a 4) to get credit and I didn't think it was worth the stress. Plus, when I take it next year, it should be a breeze.

Stats... just totally and completely sucks. I know how to do each of the processes, but I have no idea why and when to use them (I don't have a great class... AP Stats class is more like AP Slacking class).

AP English I have been struggling with all year. Even though I love to write and read, I truly abhor analyzing literature. Pardon the pun, but I find that I just can't read into stories the way other people do. I am more of a scientific thinker and I just can't find myself inferring things about character's intentions and feelings and the meanings of those feelings and the metaphors and... ahhhhhhhh... I hate it. I would have had to get a 5 to get any credit at UM. Wasted $82, if you ask me.

So, I will only go into college having taken 2 AP tests which will have given me credit, but oh well. I may also be able to transfer some of the credits I have earned through my school's Tech Prep program, which allows me to earn credits for the classes I take at school through Northwestern Connecticut Community College. However, at this point, I don't know which credits they will accept, and which ones they won't.

Wow you're pretty lucky, down here we're required to take every AP test that we have a class for. Then again, in my school we aren't charged.

i took the AP Euro test and it was very interesting to say the least... i think i may have pulled off a three maybe four... my class was lucky, we have a young teacher who took them recently and could remember things.. like to study women's history because it may come in handy... im glad i listened.

Re: AP Exams

This year I took 3 AP Test: English Literature, Statistics, and Calculus BC.

English - I think I did pretty well, it just depends on how i did with the multiple choice.
Statistics - Once again pretty well other than the Investigative Task Free Response question.
Calculus BC - Not so well, should be be better than my Calc AB score from last year though.

The 4 of us at my school that took Physics C: Mechanics would be absolutely thrilled to get a 3 on it. That's the single hardest test I've ever taken. I don't know if it's really that hard or our class just wasn't very good for it.

Re: AP Exams

Will people throw stones at me if I gloat that I don't have to take any?

At my school we have UCONN partnership. This means that we get credit from UCONN for taking the class, just so long as we get a C or better. (In Chem, every test we take is from UCONN, in calc just the midterm and final, and in English nothing). So I already have an A- in four credits of Chem 1, and a B in four credits of Calc 1 (by the end of the year I should have 8 of chem, 8 of Calc, and 4 of English (4? yes 4))

So at my school, as long as you paid for UCONN credit ($15/credit) and your school accepts the transfer credit (Syracuse does) you have no reason to take the AP test.

I hope everyone did well, good luck if you still have more! :)

What did you think of the Chem test? I understood most of the stuff, I knew it wasn't going to be easy, but I didn't feel that I did horribly. I'm just glad to get that out of the way, AP Chem was probably the hardest class I've taken in high school. Anybody else take the Chem test?
The only other one I took this year was Calc AB. That didn't even stack up to Chem.

Re: AP Exams

I took both Calc AB and Chem.
The calc exam was easier than I thought it was going to be.
The chem exam wasn't what I was expecting because the multiple choice was harder than the free responses were. And the wording of some of the free responses was a bit weird. But chem was the hardest class and test that I took.

Was anyone else surprised by what the equilibrium problem was? Look at the history of what they have been, myself, a few other students, and my teacher were expecting a KP problem, but it wasn't, so they still haven't done pressure equilibrium since either 2000 or 2001. (I can't remember which) Overall, I felt pretty good about it, so I expect 4 or 5, but then again, it always seems that when I think I did well, I don't.

This same thing is offered at my school, but only for Bio and Physics (I think?). I opted not to take it, since the credits aren't transferable to most of the schools I'm looking at. As for us, we didn't take any tests directly from UCONN, but they had to approve of our curriculum, if I recall.

I know I'm digging up an old thread, but anyway...

Anyone on here take the AP Calculus BC exam (alt. form A)?

I e-mailed college board about one of the free responses (anyone who took it knows what I'm talking about), and I just got a reply saying that the solution was given. Whatever.

The question wasn't actually valid. If you look at the AP Course Description Guide, it doesn't mention anything about solving that form of differential equation.

Could you please post the question or email it to James_brown830@yahoo.com , it has been more than 48 hours and that is all you have to wait before you discuss the free response questions.

Unfortunately, that's only the regular tests. The alternate versions are not released, same as the multiple choice. I can't reveal the specific question, and AP can't share the answer with me. :(

I had the same thing happen with Chemistry AP. Though there were no problem questions, I took an alternative form, so I couldn't discuss it with my chem teacher at all. :)

Jamie - please don't let it get to you. The BC exam is difficult, and I truly hope you'll get partial credit and I'm sure you did well on the rest of the exam.

Are all the alternate exams harder? The people in my class who took the APES test on time said is was really easy. The make-up, however... myself and a friend of mine agree it was NOT easy. The multiple choice was alright, but the free response was insane. It might be only because our class never covered the material in one of the questions and only lightly touched on some other ones. Or, maybe they want to make them hard for some reason, I don't know.

I have also heard they're supposed to be harder later. I thought Chem AP makeup was easy but I'm biased because I fully plan to make babies with Chemistry as a subject sometime in the near future. It's an amazing subject.

But yes, as a general rule, Make-ups are harder.

I heard the free response for APES was joke on the original. I wouldn't know considering that I thought the test was in the evening and not the morning.... That was a waste of $13 of $85 depending on how you look at it.
