This is basically a wrap of video of what team 612 has done all year. This video was also playing in our pits during nationals.

Just out of curiosity, could the kid drive the wheel chair?
Did the basketball launcher help you guys design this year's robot?

Yes, the boy can press the three buttons (forward, left and right) to move the drive the chair. He fully learned how to drive it in about two weeks. He was about 10 months old when the project started, and he has been using the chair at home for about two hours a day for 9 months.

Kind of- it gave us some ideas for how to launch things, and most of the ideas we came up for the 2006 game with had to do with the basketball launcher we built. We eventually decided on two oppositely spinning wheels to throw the ball, however.

Congratulation on an amazing season. The baby walker was quite impressive when I saw it on Thursday and Friday. I mean, we can barely ever get our random sensors to do about anything on our FRC bot, and you guys came up with a way to have your baby walker detect obstacles and stop, or is if a wall is too far away and stop (thinking he's about to drive off of the top of a flight of stairs). Awesome job guys!

Is it that it looks for a wall too far away? Or did you just point a sensor down and have it reach in front of the walker and if it got to be more than like three inches or something? Anyway, I'm really impressed. I was about to cry when I saw that. Even though its only one person, thats one person. YOu can't put a price on it. This truly shows how FIRST can affect us and help each other out. I just wish more of the world knew.

We used the IR sensors at the front (3) that were mounted in a way that they look for walls and stairs. They simply measure the distance between the walker and the ground, 60 times in one sec, and if that distance increases or decreases, they turn of the movement and using the logic try to correct or protect the walker.

This project not only changes the whole aspect of the Baby's life, but it also impacted the students on a greater scale. It gave them an insight of how they can use this knowledge and make this world a better place to live for everyone.
