Promising New Cancer Research

A group at Wake Forest University has discovered a cancer-resistant mouse with a dominant resistance gene! Not only that, injections of the white blood cells found to be fighting the cancers into non-carriers of the gene has proven to erradicate any cancers introduced! It seems that mice born with this genetic mutation develop a life-long resistance to all cancers (the cells do not fight only particular cancers, nor do they target only specific locations) after initial exposure to some form of cancer.

This is a really fascinating article with a lot of insight into a promising new path towards cancer research and treatment. If you've got the time you should definitely be sure to read it.

That is fascinating. It will be interesting to see how the research progresses and if there is something similar in humans. If there is, and they can get it to work, that would be a major breakthrough!

that is awesome i hope they find a way to make this work for humans

Well according to the article the initial mutation came about as a result of massive inbreeding, so I'm not sure if it will be a naturally occurring thing in humans. However, it may be that in the future genetic research allows for the modification of genes to insert such a mutation, which would then continue on down the line and become man-made evolutionary characteristic.
