TI-89 Titanium
Ok, First of I have no idea where this belongs, but I want it somewhere that egineers will see it because they will most likely know.
I have a TI-89 Titanium calculator and in our math classes we use TI-83's. So this has brought up the problem tat things are obviously radically different between them. Right now in Math (Math B, NYS Regents course) we just go done using the list function to enter a data set and using one var and 2 var functions to view mean, median, standard deviation( both little sigma and S) and all that. if you have an 82-84+ go do it and you will see what I am talking about. and in 2 var we used the r-value. I have now idea how to do any of this on my calculator and some assistance would be extremely helpful. For sake of ease lets all use the same data set, and say it will be a little part of the fibonacci sequence. how bout we use: {1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21} I would like to know how to put these into a list and then do something so that I can view all the one var stat values and 2 var stat valueson it like on the 82, 83 ,84...ect.... I hope you understand my question. |
Re: TI-89 Titanium
Look at your manual for the proper syntax, but I think this is it
press 2nd "5" go to statistics and you have all of your options I know you can do list, so you don't have to enter the #'s over and over again. I think it is define, but I don't know how to get there |
Re: TI-89 Titanium
I figure out that much but I can't do anything more then that, I can't do anything with the list.

Re: TI-89 Titanium
I think this is what you are looking for
press apps to get to the menu, go to stats/lists (down 2, right one from home) press enter this brings you to the list, (same as stat-> edit on the 83) name the folder you want to save it in )so you can find it later if you don't want to enter it, then press enter (If you have entered a list recently it will not prompt you to do this) Enter the data in the list of your choice (use list 1 for convenience) once you enter all of the data press enter once then press F4 (calc) select either 1-var or 2-var stats, press enter. In the window that opened enter the list you put the data int (list1 or list2 etc. L1 and L2 don't refer to lists like on the 83) Press enter wait a couple seconds (don't press enter again if it says busy at the bottom of the screen just wait) A new window should open with all of the things you wanted in it. If this is not what you wanted, try to reword your question and maybe I can help, If you have AIM my sn is Jamesbrownssn, that would be an easier way to talk. |

Ok well I figured it out except for the onevar and two var stats. When I press F4 it wants med to enter a label for the colum or something, it goes to c1=[promt]. I can press F7 and a screen pops up but none of the numbers on there look like standard deviation, I know how to figure it out from home, but I would rather not have to retype a data set everytime I wanna do something. |

I just realized...I don't have the app you described, I have "data/matrix editor", but on of the file types in it is a list, and I just choose that when I open a new list. Also I cannot load a new app on my calc because I haven't gotten the right cable in the last 9 months....>_< Can you describe how to do it in the default program that comes pre loaded on it, if it is possible in that Edit:http://www.acad.sunytccc.edu/instruc.../stat/ti89.htm I guess according to that I can't do stats on my calculator which is weird because mine isn't old I only bought it in september. I guess I need to go to the store and buy a cable this week so I can do my Math homework.... |
Re: TI-89 Titanium
My 89 is new (I bought it in january) My calculator came with the app I am talking about on it, I am not sure if the first version of the 89 titanium had the app.
