VIDEO to DVD HELP!

This year I decided to make our annual banquet video, however I have a problem. The video is almost finish and now I want to convert it to DVD for the viewing audience. Can anyone provide suggestions to help me make the video into a DVD. I used Windows Movie Maker and saved it to a CD-RW disc for now.

Also to anyone that knows how to convert a video to DVD and has software willing to do it, I will send my video to you and you could possibly change it into a DVD video for me, that will show a mark of impressive "gracious professionalism". The banquet is going to be around the first week of June. If you can help please send an email to Nomads2009@aol.com.

Thanks for the help
Freddy

Bring your video on a CD-R encoded to AVI to Monty Madness with a blank DVD-R. I'll bring my Mac, we'll work on it during the break. ;)

OOWW!! widows movie maker!! my ears bleed. Such a horrible program.........no control.........of video..

*regains sanity* get Adobe Encore DVD and that should fill all of your need makeing a menu screen. But you'll also need to convert the video in a 720X480 .avi NSTC DVD. You can do this with Premeire.

I hope this helps you. :D

Also depending on your idea of what you're doing with the disk. If your video is already fit onto a CD you should be able to simply make a VCD (Video CD) which will play on nearly any DVD player. By converting it to DVD video (MPG4) you may actually lose quality. I would more say burn your video to a CD-R then if your CD burning software has it, create a VCD. This shouldn't take more than an hour and you already have all you would need. No need for DVD disk or converting to other file formats.

Everyone has WMM. I never even touch it. Its such a horrible program, You have no control over what your product is going to look like. Its so poorly written it always crashes. My suggestion download Power producer gold and you can burn DVDs that way. At least that program is somewhat good enough to give you a few choices in menu screens.

I've learned that you only want to burn DVDs with a DVD burning program. The other programs that can let you burn DVDs always end up with errors. Hence why WMM is such a horrible program.

Encore DVD is VERY complex to someone new to creating DVDs (and expensive). I would highly getting Nero 7 (Demo). I use it for our TV spots or in-house quickie movies that I don't want to spend more than 10 minutes on burning it to DVD. We are creating mentor and sponsor thank you DVDs, and with that I used Encore 1.5 (took about two nights to finish up the menus and testing). Same thing with Premere, it has a high learning curve, but not as high as Encore. Still, both are great software and my favorite tools for producing semi-professional looking DVDs (plus an Epson R300 printer with CD/DVD printing :D - Worth every penny).

Good luck to finishing the DVD in time!

I have WMM and could not figure it out, certainly not fast enough, I ended up making a DVD for a member of 229 who asked for it at GTR in Mississauga and ended up doing it the hard way....crash record into a DVD -R recorder at the TV station I do work for, all looked good and played back fine......until I realied a week later that I forgot to finalize the DVD! Oh did I ever feel stupid! I made another DVD and finalized it.

Yes, I work 12 hours a day shooting news video and I don't know how to make a DVD.

but saving from WMM to DVD....never could see that option to I switched to "emergency mode"

I agree with what has been said about Encore...

When I tried to make my first DVD for my middle school graduation video, I spend days and days learning that program. It took me about two weeks to produce the whole DVD, including photoshoped menus, background videos, chapters etc. It is really not a good idea for just getting a video onto a DVD.

And WMM...I remember I used to do some pretty cool movies with it. Since I moved to Premiere, I get frustrated just by looking at that program. It is a real torture trying to edit a video with it (no jog wheel and layers is the most frustrating part about it).

OK, all:

I have a copy of Pinnacle Studio 8 (2 versions old), and after editing down the video I used the "make a disk" option. It happily burned the DVD-R but of the three DVD players in the house none will play it. They all "try" to load/read the disk, but none are successful -they just sit there, 'loading...'

From the experts out there: What kind of file is a regular ordinary DVD supposed to be? I saw .AVI mentioned.

BTW, the disk created plays just fine in a computer, but using Windoze media player...

(and for some reason my DVD+/-RW drive won't recognize the HP CD-R media I have as blank, so i can't make a VCD...)

Alright here it goes. The video must be burned at a 720X480 format with the NTSC-DV .avi format. I know this debate about using adobe encore DVD has been going on for a long time but i still stress using it. All of my DVDs that I burn have no flaws in them and can play in any DVD player. Yes it took me some time to figure things out but within a day I could easily burn one DVD with the preset background. Now I can make DVD menu backgrounds in a snap after using it a little while.

If you are still think adobe Encore DVD is to complicated You may also want to try Power producer gold. I've only had a couple problems with that program. (I likes to freeze once in a while) That program will also spit out DVDs that will play in any DVD player.
