What's my title?

I've just recently been assigned the task of the leading the business end for team 1676, I was wondering what the typical title that someone might recieve for this "status." Thanks.

I also think everyone should welcome him as this is his first venture into US FIRST.

Leadership or student. Then put something in your sig like "Business Lead Team 1676". That's what I've seen lots of people do.

Sounds sort of like a mix between PR(Public Relations)/Treasurer.

Well, we like to run our team like a corporation... for example, I am CEO. I know, its disgustingly tacky, but that's how we roll. We already have a CFO to manage all of the spreadsheets and crap, Boardsoc's position would be aiding the CFO and being in charge of fundraising. I hope that helps spark something in your minds. Thanks for any input.

I would say leadership or student. honestly the title is just a guideline dosen't nesserally mean you only do that one thing. if you work n the robot all the time your either mechanical or electrical. if your doing paperwork and aranging transportation, food and any other logistical things your leadership. if you do all that and you drive the robot your the driver. whatever you are most often identified my at competitions.

In an engineering company you would be a program manager, the person who takes care of the money / scheduling / resources / and customer point of contact of a project or program, without really getting involved in the technical aspects of the design cycle.

In FIRST your position is usually referred to as the team leader.

Re: What's my title?

If you are a student, some teams have a "President" and then a VP for Technical and VP for Business.

The important thing is for the team, including the mentors/teachers to have a plan and clear lines of communication and decision making, on how you are going to run the team. A contract and a mission statement works for a lot of teams.

There are some team business plans and team handbooks posted in the white papers (see left bar on home page) on CD.

Also, if you have an adult mentor helping with business part of the team, have them join NEMO (Non-engineering Mentor Organization.) But you are welcome to visit www.firstnemo.org. In the resources section are lots of helpful papers, many related to the business of organizing a team.

***personal note*** It would be great if you attached a state to "Montvale." It sometimes will help with directing resources and people your way if we know what part of the world you reside in. ;)

Since we are talking about titles, what if you are about to become the design team captain, website team co-captain, and a member of the manufacturing team?
