Re: Brunswick Eruption 5 Nov.4
Thank you team 25 for hosting another great event! Finals were exciting as usual and congratulations to teams 271, 293 and 102 for a well fought victory. Kinda sad that this is my last BE with my team (1403). Who knows, I may be back next year as an alumni volunteer?

Re: Brunswick Eruption 5 Nov.4
BE was amazing. Thank you again to our alliances and as Ashley posted before, thanks to the teams that helped us with our many technical difficulties.
Just letting all of you know, I will not be part of the drive team for the actual competition. That's basically for everyone who noticed my nervous breakdown problems. *angel face* Last, thank you to team 25 for hosting. And I hope everyone had a great time! |
Re: Brunswick Eruption 5 Nov.4
Our thanks to all the teams who came out for BE5 and congratulations to the winners.
I dont know what was more fun for me- watching the robots play or watching the field resetters bombard the "kids in the playpen" every time the round was over. I am very proud of all of the team, mostly young students, who hustled all day to make sure the event flowed. We were behind the clock 50 minutes at round 4 but only 6 minutes by round 30. Our parent group really outdid themselves. Each committee worked smoothly. I also wish to thank Corey and the field operations staff. I kept pushing Tom B. to move it along all day and between him and Kim they kept the field hopping. And finally I wish to express our greatest gratitude to Mike Wade - our NASA guardian- who gave so much of his time and effort to allow us to have the event. Without him none of this would be possible. Below are some of the newspaper articles out this morning. The event was on both local and statewide radio (NJ 101.5). Someday soon every school in NJ will be playing FIRST robotics. WC  http://www.nj.com/search/index.ssf?/...ger?nnj&coll=1 http://www.thnt.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...97/1005/NEWS01 |

OK- how about this deal? You gather together a team of independent alumni from at least 5 teams from the region and together build a competition FIRST robot for next year's game in the same season/rules as the regular competition. For BE6 we will have a single "exhibition" spot for you to play as a mentor team. WC |

Anyway, BE gets better and better each year, it was my first taste of FIRST, and it certainly won't be my last. I'll come back, and I'm sure most others will too. 25 you guys run this event as smooth as it gets, do it again! Oh thank you to all the volunteers, refs, and anyone else for doing a great job and helping everyone have a great experince, you guys get better at it every event! I also want to thank Mike Wade for showing and explaining to me how all the field controls work (its really really cool) |

Re: Brunswick Eruption 5 Nov.4
Well, BE was just amazing, you know. Every time I go to it (2nd time for me) I keep on meeting new people and all, it's just so amazing. 2 Years ago was the first time being in a robotics competition and I agree with everyone else that BE hosts REALLY GOOD events. Hopefully our team (555) will be there next year because meeting all of you is just a blast! Thanks to all the teams that participated and for team 25 and all the volunteers for making an exciting event! Cheers until the next challenge rolls in :)

(Seeing as how Palmetto has played host to 11, 25, 1302, and 1676, all of whom have made it to the finals at some point or another (2004 and 2006, 2005, 2004, and 2006, respectively) I think it might qualify as New Jersey Annex.) |

For years FIRST played rounds with a robotic vacuum cleaner called the "Placebo". An alumni robot could be worked into the rounds as a similar capacity to supplement the play of the HS kids without hurting them. If a few of such teams existed they could be rated based on that team performance and awarded. I see the alumni as a resource to be developed and making them into a real team can open the doors for all sorts of possibilities. FIRST offers a Chairman's Trophy for the best HS team. Why should the committment to service, learning and the quest for excellence stop when HS ends? WC  |
Re: Brunswick Eruption 5 Nov.4
Little late to respond but what the heck.
Thanks to teams 1923 and 1807 for a good run in the elims. Congrats to teams 271 293 and 102 for the big win Also a nice job by teams 369 222 423 in the finals, you guys played very well. I also want to spotlight an amazing team: Team 423 They played the best defense I have seen, at BE and DOD, I cannot wait to see them at Ramp Riot. Soon as the videos of BE get cut up be sure to check them out in the finals. |

the placebo is AMAZING. when I was younger, I was invited to drive it during a few matches [i think i was about 6 or 7...not sure]. oh, my first start on drive team. =P I can definitely see an alumni 'bot in the future. I know I'll build one when i'm outta HS! There's no way I'm ever leaving F.I.R.S.T. =] |
