Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
Congrats to the Champions of BattleCry 7 @ WPI - 177, 176 and 839!
That last match was pretty intense, and if it wasn't for the 5 pt ramming penalty that 173 had, it would have been a tie match and went on to a 3rd. But good job to all the teams who attended, you all put on a great showing. :) |
Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
In addition to what Kristian said you guy have very nice facilities over at the WPI dorms. Almost looked like a rave a lot of the time with the lighting, very good showing for all the teams.
Congratulations again to 177 176 and 839. |

Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
Any one who saw the quarter finals what happened to 121's alliance (121, 126, 151) I missed all of todays matches and was looking at the scores, how did that alliance go from scoring an average of 83.5 points in the 8th finals to averaging 10 pts in the quarter finals? Was is ridiculously good defense on the part of 1733, 1685 and rage or did something happen to one of their robots?

Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
Thanks to 177 for believing we could still help them after our poor qualification showing. And thanks to 839 for taking a couple killer hits for us in the last two rounds.
And special thanks to Ken Stafford and everyone at Team 190 and WPI for putting on a terrific event. |
Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
Congratulations, It was really a great event, and I heard that 177 won two regionals, one of which they won with 176.

Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
It was such an awesome competition, so many things went wrong with our robot (we're rookies...) but we managed to pull together and play our strengths to make it to the finals. Facing off against Gael Force's alliance was the best part, they played incredibly well (as usual) and it was really close. Towards the end though our robots started to fall to pieces (In the last match our battery holder essentially broke and out fell our power supply :( not to mention that 1685 was driving with 3 out of 4 chains on their wheels). Overall though it was great fun, especially for a gang of rookies who never expected to make it anywhere near as far :yikes:

Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
we also managed to win galileo and place 3rd einstein

Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
Are they going to archive the matches like they have in the past?

Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
the matches were awsome, we seriuslly didn't think we were going to make it past the 8th finals, one robot had transmission problems and we weren't sure of another atonomous capability, and we were running out of bateries, but we had stron team work that really helped us out, our alliance was probrably the most odd ball there was, and congratulations 177, 176 and 839 on winning, and also Dan Larochelle for winning the start
also any one know were i can get the videos of the competion, have some friends that couldn't make it but want to see how every one did |
Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
I believe WPI has said they will be posting video of all the matches online. I assume they just need a few days to clip it all and get it up on the site.
Battlecry was pretty amazing. We were really happy to be able to select our previous regional-winning partners, 176, and we kept our fingers crossed that we'd wind up with the third team in that alliance, 1124. We got 839 as our partner, and that wound up being just what we needed. Between our new shooter, Aces High's ability to keep the 'toggle' under our control, and Rosie's effective defense, we were able to pull it off. I really expected to get knocked out in the semis, but we managed to come back from behind a match (sound familiar, Aces?). All of our competitors were fierce competition, and you guys managed to keep most of the matches within ten points. Great work everyone, and thank you WPI for putting on a wonderful event! |
Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
Thanks to Ken Stafford and everyone else at WPI. What a great time I had at the event. This is the first time I ever went to BattleCry. I have been with team 176 for 5 years and was never able to attend before. Sorry I missed it in past years. Thanks again to team 177 for picking us to be their partner again. Thanks to Rosie Team 839 what a great win the alliance pulled off. The finals were one of the best I have seen in my 5 years of the events I have been to.

Re: BattleCry in Just ONE WEEK!
One BIG item of note.........I found out after the competition that during the semi final rounds, the alliance we were up against, headed by the Bad Boys of Bay Shore, Team 271, called a time out so we could finish repairs on our drive train that was being held together by a chain tensioner piece of delrin and 2 pieces of PVC manufactured on-the-fly and a prayer. I just want to thank Peter Burke and the boys for calling that time out. That was HUGE and set us up to go on to the finals and take some more abuse from RAGE, drawing them off of the scorers of the alliance, Aces and Bobcats.
Thanks to 176 and 177 to make this another winning all UTC alliance. Peter, if you are reading this, the saga continues between Rosie and the Bad Boys. :D |
