To leave room on the other side for a fun little mechanism. ;)

Is it possible to see a picture of one of those gears/bearings up close?

John, I guess the truth is out you do play with robots all day long for work whether you admit it or not.

Nice job looks fun. But then again when you have all the Vx parts available at your finger tips skies the limit.

Believe it or not, I don't just sit around playing with robots, this is a new product. :) I only hope there is some interest.

Some time has passed since this post. I don't see a swerve kit on the VexLabs site (yet). Is it possible that insufficient interest has been registered?

Do we need to start howling for these parts?

If so, I'd belt out a few howls. Swerving aside, I see plenty of options for such an item. (A turreting center-goal dumper would've been awesome for Half-Pipe Hustle, if you ask me. Suddenly, defense doesn't seem so bad.)

[HOWL] I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN A SWERVE SET.[/HOWL]
would it include the necesary gears aswell?

A little birdie told me that the howling has been heard, but the what*, when, and how much are still being settled upon.

*You know, the pesky questions we never think about, like what exactly to put in the kit that you order from VexLabs. Motors? Wheels? Gears? Extra metal? All of that? None of it? Enough for one module? Two? Eight? Gee, it almost sounds like trying to design an FRC drivetrain. ;)

A turret (of reasonable weight) can already be build with the standard kit. http://www.vexlabs.com/vex-robotics-gear-kit.shtml
The larger gears have wholes for bolting onto them. The FIRST Vex Challenge (or at least Half Pipe Hustle's) relatively small size requirement (particularly height) was really the biggest limiting factor in what you could build.
Honestly, I do hope for a vex swerve kit sooner or later, but I want to see what some individuals and teams create on their own, particularly during the FVC.
