I don't believe I ever saw it in action but it looks like a good, simple, robust machine.

With that said, there are a few observations I'd like to point out. You have a chain loose. Whether it matters to you or not is up to you. In my opinion think the wheels are quite excessively large for the task at hand, especially for having six of them. And all that extrusion can get pretty heavy.

I bet it performed well though. :)

I will have to slightly disagree with Sanddrag here.

Overall, it looks to be an extremely simple, yet extremely robust robot. I'm impressed that you were able to adapt the extruded aluminum directly to the kit chassis. The so-called "extra weight" of the extruded aluminum probably wasn't a problem, as I can't imagine this robot weighing in anywhere close to the limit.

Also, the entire ball system looks very well done, someone obviously has experience with gathering balls. The vertical storage system eliminates all the problems when delivering them. I can't find anything that doesn't scream out robustness!

The 6wd was probably still needed to get the bot to turn. Even with the wide version of the chassis, having the 4 traction wheels on the corner still makes it difficult to turn.

My only comment is related to the brackets used on the extruded aluminum. Those brackets are the main reason for any added weight, and they are no where near as strong as the anchored connections. The cost of them alone makes them quite a pain. A team can make the holes for the anchors with a drill press if needed, no milling machine required. You just need a very good setup and the right bit to get the job done.

But, I'll reiterate, 1660 put together an extremely robust bot that could play the game as they intended. I would have gladly played with them, as they look to be a capable, reliable partner.

We saw the machine play at Monty Madness and it did a great job. It was very quick to deliver the balls into the side goals and had enough muscle to push with the big guys. Great job.

But what impressed me more at MM was the great enthusiasm and spirit of the team. That is as important or more important than having a good robot. The team is definitely doing something right!

It was a good robot, I liked it. I was impressed when I saw it at the NYC Regional but to be honest, I did think that the designs of a couple of the others were more interesting (440?). Yours was simple and did the job though so I agreed with the judges on the Design Award. Afterall, the simpler something is, the fewer things there are that can break :) As they say, Keep It Simple Stupid

The robot is simple, I like it. It may not have the "awe" factor some of the shooters do, but I bet you never had to worry about a break down with that thing.

I like the extruded cart.
