I've got a team 67 mentor who'd like to play if you've still got a spot open.

I would love to play. Either the HS vs. College (Myself being on the high school side) or the 'Drawn Names' match. I believe those are the only ones I am eligible for...

The rule book is now up! This is the first version so some tweaks and changes will most likely be made. If you have any questions about a rule or think one should be added, pm me or post your question on this thread.

I'd recommend safety glasses - no head shots allowed does not mean there won't be any....

As a relatively adept proponent of caught dodge ball outs (back in the day [in sixth grade gym], I was the only one left on my team against 10+ opposing players. I kept rolling back dodge balls across the line and let them throw at me until I caught enough to take them all down - greatest dodge ball comeback ever!), I question the inclusion of the "no caught ball outs" rule. I understand the "caught balls do not return players to the field" rule (matches would take a lot longer to decide), but yeah. What is the rationalization behind this rule? I demand an explanation!!!!! :p

I'd presume, at the very least, that catching a ball does not count as a hit, and the player is still in the game. What say the IADI?

At the past dodgeball event we held, we found the caught ball rule to be not used in the right way. But, that was like 20 vs 20 dodgeball. I am considering revoking that rule and letting the caught ball bring one player back in. If we do that, there will be a line t he people who get out will go into, then if a ball is caught they go back into the game in the order that they came out.

The safety glasses rule, one that I have played back and forth on. I have found them to cause more pain then they are worth. I have been nailed in the eye by a POOF ball quite a few times in the 45 vs 45T matches we had during build season. It hurt more when I got hit with them on, I believe someone else in this thread also pointed that out. The safety glasses are optional though, just be award that they may cause an extra sting when hit.

The bottom of my right eye was grazed by a Poof ball that blindsided me during an informal game. I closed my eye in time and wasn't injured, but it felt bad when it happened. I considered myself lucky. I'd rather deal with any peripheral stings the glasses would cause to my face after a hit than experience a direct eye injury as a result of not wearing them. People can whip these Poof balls pretty durned fast.
