Snakes on a Plane
Has anyone seen this advertisement for this film? At first I Thought it was a joke. Its even funnier when i found out that this film is for real. How is that going to be and interesting plot for 2 hours? I give it a week before it is a total flop and they pull it out of theaters.
My friends and are planning on going opening night with rubber snakes and throw them around while shouting "snakes in a movie theater! snakes in a movie theater!" Then sit back and watch and rip apart the film. |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
I don't get why people think is so funny. I think it's a very innovative and creative idea and it will define movie making for the rest of our lives.
Hahahahahahahah :D :D :D |

ET would be "Alien needs a friend or A home" Titanic would be "Boat in the water which sinks" The Matrix would be "Alternate world goes crazy" Star Wars would be.. well.. "Star Wars" still I guess.. LOL With this movie, I swear, if anyone even thinks of asking what it is about in my presence, I am gonna smack them. And, about this movie, I'm surprised this is the first time it was mentioned here on CD. The internet hype over this movie has been so large, it had fan sites even before it was finished being filmed. Stick Samuel L. Jackson on a plane, and throw in some snakes, and apparently you have a cult phenomenon. Weird. Speaking of Samuel L. Jackson, Pulp Fiction would be named "Angry People In A Movie With No Point Which Doesn't Have A Beginning Or Ending" - Directed By Quentin Tarentino :p |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
I guess I just ... don't get it. What's all the hype about? From what I've seen, the plot looks pretty boring. I don't see anything really "innovative" about it.

And then get kicked out. That's rude, and stupid. If you don't like the movie, then don't go and see it, don't ruin the experience for those who do want to see it. It's immature and a waste of your time and money, as well as the other patrons. I just don't understand why disrupting other people is fun. |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
Samuel L. Jackson basically forced the movie execs to keep the "literal" title, saying he wouldn't do the movie if they changed it to "Venom at 50,000 Feet" or some other such boring nonsense. :)
This is a movie Sam doesn't want you to take seriously. |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
For a little while I thought the movie was a hoax, cause I hadn't heard anything about it for a while. Then I saw commercials on for it TV again.
People seem to be saying that it will be so ridiculous and and poorly done, that it will be a cult hit. I don't think anyone is taking this movie seriously. I mean, come on, a boa with fangs? Quote:
I don't think you should heckle the movie while it's playing though, just laugh along with everyone else at it's awesome badness. :) |

Re: Snakes on a Plane
I was so waiting for this thread to be started.
I found out about this movie back around March/April, and I'm so excited about it. It's amazing the way teh intarwebs can affect a movie. Once someone on the internets found out about the movie, they started the whole, "I want these motherf------ snakes off my motherf----- plane!" which was, of course, a snark on Samuel L. Jackson's role in Pulp Fiction. When they got back together to reshoot some scenes, they also added a scene where Sam's character actually yells that. I definitely cannot wait until it comes out, though. It's going to be such a bad movie that it'll definitely be worth going to. And Peter...I like your idea. :D |

Re: Snakes on a Plane
This is one movie I am looking forward to seeing just because it looks so incredibly ridiculous and Samuel L. Jackson is gonna kick some... snakes? The trailer and concept itself seems like one of those bad old Sci-Fi B movies that they rip on Mystery Science Theatre 3000.
|
Re: Snakes on a Plane
I still say Chinese movies based on Ancient China are the best.
And if you haven't seen "House of Flying Daggers" you have so missed out. "Snakes on a Plane" sounds like one of those frustrating movies, where you become restless, after 5 minutes. As for your idea...I agree with Matt. Just make sure that if you really want to do it, then do it before even the previews begin. After that, let the rest of the people watch the movie. Because the movie will most likely be more annoying, and hence make you funnier ;). And remember, you are giving your money away. To the horrible movie, really. For anyone who goes, enjoy :D. |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
I have been waiting for this movie to come out ever since I first heard about it back in February (when Wired magazine named it the "Worst Movie of 2006" - which is particularly prescient, when you consider that at the time of publication 2006 had not even started yet). I have been following the net parodies of the trailer with glee (some of my favorites are here, here and here - to see more, just check out YouTube or iFilm, and do a search on "Snakes On A Plane").
If you are wondering if you should go and see this movie or not, then let me suggest a few simple litmus tests to determine if you have the appropriate psychological appreciation for such a cinematic production: If you were able to actually keep paying attention to Plan 9 From Outer Space for more than the first seven minutes of the film, then Snakes On A Plane is for you. If you scoff at episodes of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 because they are not creative enough in their abuse of the original lame plots, then this is a film you will love. If you understand that Peter's suggestion about bringing rubber snakes to the movie and crying out "snakes in a movie theatre!!!" is exactly the right thing to do, then you need to grab a handfull of rubber cobras, and prepare to be entertained. If you recognize the film "Eegah!" as one of the truly outstanding highlights of Richard Kiel's illustrious career, then Snakes On A Plane is right up your proverbial alley. If you show up at a screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show with a bag full of toast and dressed in white boxers and t-shirt, then we can count on where you will be spending every Friday night for the next 10 years - at the midnight screenings of Snakes On A Plane. If you liked Attack Of The Killer Tomatoes, then just give up now - get your sleeping bag and five bags of Tostitos, and go camp out right now so you will be first in line to get your tickets for the opening show of Snakes On A Plane. If you go to this movie expecting to see a cinematic work of art, then expect to be surprised (and in the distinct minority). If you go to this movie expecting the audience to remain totally silent and never voice their approval of the overwhelming badness of this film, then you need to go off in the corner and join those six other people that just don't have a clue. -dave |

My sister first told me about this, and I started laughing.. Hard. Then when I saw it for myself.. over and over again (yeah.. I went to the movies a lot this month and last), I just... couldn't quite understand.
Although I hope it doesn't get a cult following like RHPS (Because.. well you can only have one, otherwise, it's no longer special), I think it'll ... who am I kidding. I doubt this movie is going to last long in theaters.. and out of them. |

As far as Snakes on a Plane goes, I think it has earned a spot on the top ten stupid movie titles list, a list includes that such doozies as: "The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed Up Zombies" (1964 I think I'm living with one of those) "Chopping Mall" (1986 at least it's about a robot...) "Mars Needs Women" (1967 that's women, Dave, not rovers!) "Sssssss" (1971- this shows they've always had a hard time naming snake movies...) "Microwave Massacre" (1983 no, it's not a movie about my cooking skills) Heidi I'm not addicted to B-movies, I swear, I can quit anytime I want. |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
Okay, either Samuel L. Jackson is doing this as a joke, or he has reached rock bottom in his acting career with this movie. I don't know about you guys, but there is no way I am going to pass up seeing this movie. I am going to dress up as a snake and wait to see it on the first day and have my friends carry me into the theater and lay across like 6 seats.
This movie is going to be funnier than deep rising... |

See i actually think that all of you will be surprised on how good this movie will be.
I mean, i think they knew everyone would bash it. So they'd have to make it very good. I mean, look at some of the other movies that have came out that people really liked that were horrible: Anacondas:Hunt for the Blood Orchid (ha a another snake movie ha) Herbie:fully loaded The Terminal T3 anything by the Wayans brothers that has came out since Scary Movie 2 So you see, this movie is destined to be good. Sam made a movie a while back that sort of "flopped" called formula 41 or something like that. People said it was horrible. But it was an awesomely funny movie. I mean how can you go wrong with Samuel L. Jackson in a kilt beating people up with golf clubs along with a witty British guy. Come on haha I will go see snakes on a plane for sure. |

It's movies like Snakes on a plane that make my summer worthwhile. Plus Samuel Jackson is in it, they needed to bring him back after he died in Episode 3.

They have the "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" ride where they use air jets to make it feel like there are mice on the floor. Now we just need to wait and look at the papers...you know that at least one theater will have the guts to do some sort of air jet rig to make it just that much more enjoyable :D |

Awesome news! I've gotten my mom to agree to take me to see the midnight show of Snakes on a Plane!
So me and MercuryRising will be there on Thursday/Friday! :D I've been waiting for this movie to come out since February. I can't wait! :D |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
Me and at least 2 other people are going to see this 10 PM Thursday night (I still don't get why they're having a 10 PM showing AND a midnight showing, but they are). We chose 10 PM since it's the first one, and we want to be first.
We actually went on a spree looking for stuff today. 4 different stores didn't carry rubber snakes, luckily I was able to find wood ones later that day and a plane as well, so I'm informing them about it. We also got shirts and pre-sale tickets. This is all my stuff as of right now: http://i78.photobucket.com/albums/j1...42/Snakes2.jpg (If anyone is offended by this picture because of the censored words on the shirt please PM me and I'll remove the link) I read about this in Wired and have been planning since then. This will be good. Thursday needs to come faster! |

Did anybody hear that when this movie first started pre-production, that when Samuel L. Jackson was called to do the movie he didn't even look at the script before he said yes. I guess that's saying something, and even as cheesy as the title sounds, the filmography doesn't look half bad. I won't go see it in theaters but I'm going to go rent it when it comes out, just to see it. Along with the other X number of movies I have to see in the near future.
|
Re: Snakes on a Plane
The "phone call from Samuel L. Jackson" mentioned earlier can be found here
It's actually a studio-endorsed marketing tool. Quite ingenious, in my opinion. I'm hoping there's a midnight showing in our area, since that Friday night may not be good for me, and I wouldn't want to miss it the first weekend! |

ZOMB! I just came back from watching Snakes On A Plane first showing! It is the best movie I have ever seen. Words cannot even describe how amazingly funny that movie was, or perhaps there is, "Time is tissue!"
I greatly recommend seeing this film as a comedy, do not see it as an action film. Also go in with a group, so when something is funny you all can laugh. I do not want to give out any of the movie because you just have to see it for yourselves! SNAKES ON A PLANE! Couldn't help it. ![]() Cannot wait for S.O.A.S. Re: Snakes on a Plane
Yeah, MercuryRising and I went to see it (and actually saw Corey there, as well!). It was so ridiculously funny. I'm not even kidding.
SoaP is easily the greatest movie of our time. No joke there. And Samuel L did, in fact, say the line! It was great. When the title came on the screen, everyone would start clapping. From then on, I don't think I stopped laughing. It's truly a great movie. Everyone go see it. Now. |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
My theatre went ballistic when any of the following things happened:
A snake bit somebody Samuel L Jackson came on screen and said something A snake got killed So...basically every few minutes. epic. |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was just amazing. Can't wait until i see it again tomorrow ;) (Yes its simply that good) |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
wow it was really that amazing? (not that i was expecting it to be bad one or anything) but what was the best thing about it? the editing, the effects?
|
Re: Snakes on a Plane
Best movie ever, I just got back from the first Arizona showing. I'll put up pictures from our crew of 11 that saw it, probably later today.
I was expecting something comical, but there was a lot of hype over this and I didn't think it could completely live up to it. Not only did it, it went above and beyond it. As Samuel L. Jackson has said, this WILL win an Academy Award for Best Movie Ever. Effects were great. Lines were great. Audience participation was great. Props were great. This is simply the best thing I have ever seen. Suddenly "Airplane", "Spaceballs", and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" have been knocked down a notch in my favorite/funniest movies list. |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
I convinced my girlfriend to go with me on Saturday although she is "deathly afraid" of snakes. I can't wait. Maybe, when I start being able to afford things again I'll get a SoaP tshirt. But is it really that good? I love the first preview that I saw for it. It was like a music video but 25 seconds. And that line, the one, you know what that line is, I can't wait to hear it come from Samuel L. Jackson's mouth.

Re: Snakes on a Plane
For those of you who are unconfident about this movie, let me explain a bit more without giving much away.
If you're really clueless at this point, the plotline: A guy witnesses a brutal murder by a crime lord, but doesn't speak up. The crime lord's people want to track down and kill the kid but can't because SAMUEL L JACKSON saves his life. So then they take the kid to LA from Hawaii to stand witness against the crime lord. Meanwhile, since the crime lord is so pissed about the kid escaping, his men get a time-release crate of snakes onto the flight that Sam and the kid will be taking. Naturally, chaos ensues. The snakes are awesome-looking...and just the way all of the stuff is handled is part scary and part hilarious. Samuel L Jackson has just a ton of presence, and when he says the line, everybody goes crazy. Honestly, at parts, it was a genuinely scary movie, but still had this element of being such a ridiculous scenario. There are many "Snakes on (insertsomethinghere)" statements that are just absolutley amazing. I dunno, I loved the movie. Let me say something now though... If you are genuinely afraid of snakes, or really afraid of on-screen deaths galore, I do not recommend this movie. Although you may not anticipate it from the title, there truly are SNAKES on that PLANE. Lots of snakes. Tiny ones that lash out, and everything that size up to a nice, big juicy python. |
Re: Snakes on a Plane
Best movie ever.... Amazing I think I am going to see it a few more times, soo funny. They did an amazing job of making it a purposefully cheesy action movie (which actually worked really well and made it even funnier at parts). Everyone needs to see this movie!
