Re: 2006 IRI Talent Show
Our friends from the Great White North (Karthik and Team 1114) gave us a wonderful singing rendition about looking on the bright side of things when the competition doesn't go your way.

Re: 2006 IRI Talent Show
On Saturday, they announced that they were cutting everyone's last match and Karthik jumps up, "What?!?! They can't do that!!" or something..
Some Martians mentors right behind Karthik don't miss a beat and start singing "Tomorrow! Tomorrow!..." It was incredibly hilarious. :D |

Re: 2006 IRI Talent Show
heck yes thanks!
I heard allll about it but my stupid bus came in late and I entirely missed Friday :( |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
They can build robots like nobody's business... But never give them a mic again!
(Though that video did have me cracking up for a good 10 minutes...) |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
Oh my thats the funniest thing I've heard in a while. My eyes are teary from laughing so hard.
Good Job guys. Edit:: I now have a headache ... relation? |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
Well DJ (and Karthik, and 1114) - that's probably better than I could do too.
Unless, of course, Kyle Love wants to sing a duet with me next year? |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
And now you know why we have a " No Karthik singing zone " north of the border. All I can say is let 'er rip Karthik and get it all out because once you are back in Canada, the singing stops (that's if singing is what you called what you did).
|
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
That's....slightly disturbing, to say the least. :p
|
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
It didn't scare me as much as Jermiahs bull whip flying over the top of my head...so much for great front row seats...:)

Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
Bring the fish back! where is the fish! (that kid was funny)
|
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
I don't think I laughed that hard in my entire life. They were robbed, almost as much as the fish kid.
|
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
If anyone happened to tape any of the other acts, upload them to YouTube and share them with us!
Thanks to all who made the 2006 IRI Talent Show a success! I hope you all had a great time and encourage all of you to start thinking of ideas for next year :] |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
I recorded our team's contribution to the talent show (the unicyclers with 'fish boy'), but I was laughing so hard I was crying as they performed. Watching the video would probably make someone car sick. I can't remember the last time my stomach hurt from laughing so hard.
The talent show was really entertaining, the whole event was awesome. Well, except 'Tomorrow, Tomorrow'.. the skit was cute, but the singing went on way too long. I was waiting for the gong. FEED THE FISH! DeAnna Team 1094, River City Robots |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
That was quite possibly the most painful thing I've ever experienced.....and I've heard Karthik sing before.
BTW...You know how people sometimes look like their pets? Well, I finally saw somebody that looked like their drink...Karthik walking around with a can or Red Bull. I don't have a picture of it, but if you compare these two pictures I think you'll get the idea...Maybe we should try to get him to be their official mascot ;) Karthik Can of Red Bull |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
The first 35 seconds were hilarious and then it just stop for some reason. I didn't get to see the full 2 mins.
|
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
...I think some people had too much dew in their system. :)
On the other hand....I believe they are FIRST's new idols: you know, build like them, sing like them, and the world will be a better place for it. :D That was comcastic. |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
One word....
ENCORE ;) |

Do you seriously think Jeremiah would've gotten up there with his bull whip if he couldn't control it enough to make sure no one got hurt? |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
I don't believe I will ever again have the stomach to attend a musical of any kind.
|
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
...i'm pretty sure one of my speakers just went dead... :P
|
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
hey, remember when i used to like music?
good times, friends; good times... it was hilarious by the way |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
I'm looking for anyone who got a picture of me in that goofy suit. Please contact me if you do, I'd really like to have it as my new Who Am I :]

And now I am lucky that I have dial-up and don't have the time to watch Karthik sing.

C'mon guys - give Derek Bessette some props, too! He inhaled audibly just as much as Karthik did, but in his own special, boring, robotic way. I'm sure he's looking for y'all to spread a little tough love to him right now. |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
it was beautifull just beautifull... then i took my earmuffs off.
|
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
AAAAAhhhhhh those Canadians you got to love them! To bad I couldn't see it, I don't think the video does not capture the real experience! :yikes:
|
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
Karthik enters the stage...
... Arefin starts laughing... Karthik and 1114 members leave the stage... ... Arefin keeps laughing... Next year, I am bringing earmuffs with me, not only they are helpful when you go out to the stands while an engine is running, they are VERY helpful while karthik is singing. |

...That is priceless... By the way, since I wasn't able to go, did Dean Simmons and the Kamen Brothers make an appearance? |
Re: Team 1114 Singing at IRI
The band did perform, right after the talent show.
They were pretty darn good - lyrics were hilarious. DeAnna |
