This is a very cool article on engadget about a strength enhancing robot suit that allows you to carry large amounts of weight...very cool...didnt know these actully existed in a building stage...only in development...

Let me get this straight.

A company named Cyberdyne has invented a robotic suit named HAL?

Plus, the software controlling that puppy better be absolutely bug-free, or you could get some broken limbs in a hurry.

I can think of manymany uses for this. It is very exciting to me.
Our garage has been a free weight gym for my husband for almost 25 years. He has worked out with weights since he was 15 and was 'a big guy in a skinny body'. It has given me an appreciation of what muscle strength can do and also what its limitations are. That this could help people live a better life is wonderful. It's just cool.

an interesting idea, but we already have all kinds of strength enhancing 'suits'

a car is an extention of your body, so is a motorcycle, so is a bulldozer, a fork lift, a jet aircraft...

this one happens to look somewhat human like, and the control inputs are distributed around your body, instead of the way we normally control machines, with our fingers, hands and feet.

This is an awesome accomplishment, but this guy is really making a system that is more complicted than it needs to be for the intended purpose.

If he wants to use a machine to take his friend to the top of a mountain, there are many existing machines that can do it: 4WD jeep, helicopter, cat track, snowmobile...

its all a matter of stepping back far enough to see the wide perspective picture.
