What is your belt size?

I'm a 40, personally, although I can squeeze into a 38 if it's life-or-death.

Keep in mind how many girls might order this...we tend to have smaller sizes.

By the way, uh...does one measure belt size by waist or hips...

It depends on where you wear your pants I guess.. lol
The size of the waist measurement on your pants that fit comfortably (wherever you wear them) would be a start for figuring out belt size.

If I didn't know any better, I would move this in the technical discussion forum or motors discussion forum going by the "related links" on the bottom of the page there.. lol :p

I believe it's somewhere in between, depending on where you wear your pants. (Of course, your pants would need to be slightly larger than the belt, as otherwise they would be unable to get past your hips.)

Genia, girls can measure both places.
The waist measurement would put the belt at your waist.
Most girls/women's jeans/shorts styles these days are hip huggers and you would want your belt to measure across your hips. Measure one of your belts to the center hole. There's usually 4 holes to 6 holes. If there are any males in the household try on some of theirs, even if they are large-ish, they can help you figure out your size. Or make a store run to the men's dept. Mens' belts measure in inches as Tytus' poll shows, women's usually go small, medium, large which would be no help to Tytus. (more info than you need, I'm sure)

Re: What is your belt size?

Belt Sizes can be pretty odd, I wear a size 36 pants so i got 36 belt, well i could barely fit into the largest hole(also the 36 that i normally wear start to fall down if i dont wear a belt). So i got a size 38 belt and it fits on the second to smallest(same belt just diff sizes) so i just thought that was weird.

Ahhh. I wish I knew!! I use the fabric belts with the weird clasp thing I have no idea what it's called but it's 100% adjustable (to a certain point, it can get as small as you want but big is a different story). How would one go about measuring if one doesn't have a measuring device other that a ruler?

I just pulled my belt off my pants I wore the other day and took a tape measure to em...
you can always use string and then measure it if you really want to

Ok, here's another tip - the general store that my husband manages also has a western wear section and they sell the nice, high dollar belts.

He gave me this suggestion.

If you measure your waist and it is 26", add 2" and you will want a 28" belt.
The mens' belt sizes go in 2" increments so you add the 2" to your actual measurement. That takes in the extra fabric, belt loops, etc. So same should work for the hips. If you have 36" hips, you would want a 38" belt.

Michelle, use the string suggestion, that'll work.

That helps, I tend to like the adjustable ones Michelle mentioned though. Yay, belt adventure here I come!

Is there an option for fat? I have a 40-44 belt I think, but I use the smallest hole. I was at the biggest hole, but I guess since I got my new job at K-T I've lost some weight, maybe.
