Re: Rah Cha Cha Ruckus Is Ready!!

So far tonight was great just helping setup and get 2 good rounds of practice in. Already got help from several teams there on getting the bot to work, and now it seems to be in better condition than FLR this past year. VEX bots look good of what ones I saw there, which reminds me, I should go back to working on mine. See you all tomorrow bright and early.

Ahh... so much smoother than last year :) (so far at least)

The entire venue is ready to role!!

I have to say, this is definitely one of the most impressive A/V setups I have ever seen!! Two giant screens behind the scoring, a camera shot from way above, video and audio piped into every TV in the school, a Giant screen (of live competition feed) & two thousand watt speakers for Pit Admin!! I wish I had photos from the gym setup... but I guess I got too wrapped up!

See you all there in a few hours!! :)

It was great to see everyone again and i must say Kim, that pie tasted sooo good. ;)

Also, Greg Vex was also a blast and it was greatly designed. Keep up the good work and see ya at FLR.

Yea Great job on the Ruckus. I would have to say that I enjoyed this one more than last years. Thanks to all the volunteers and other people that made this possible. I had a blast!

The ruckus was a great event! We are so thankfull you guys decided to take on the challenge to put on this event the team president and I know there was so much involved in the planning.
The ruckus also took place at a great time of the year it helped our team truely show some of the unsure members that a FIRST robotics competition can be a extremely high spirited event, giving everyone of the new members hands on experience helped too! They are all looking forward to the 6 week build season at Gleason Works as well as the Finger Lakes and Philidelphia Regional that will follow.
Thanks from putting on a great event once again

From,
Team 578!

Just curious as to why it was decided for 2 v 3, 4 v 5, and 6 v 7 in the Quartefinals as opposed to more traditional highest v lowest?

It was teh most fun I have had since FLR. All of the students from my team didn't know what to exect, but they loved Event and now cant wait till next year's Ruckus.

Re: Rah Cha Cha Ruckus Is Ready!!

RhaChaCha was a fun event for the second year in a row. Everyone involved did a great job in making it more of a "happening" than the usual off-season robotics competition.

My son and I enjoyed working with the pre-rookie team from HFL. They came a long way in just a few hours and managed to keep 1213's robot running strong. Their composure under match pressure, I'm afraid, is going to take a while longer to develop, but we all know that's the hardest part. Their teaching mentor, Dave Ghidiu, was awesome. The kids were flush with excitement about the program. Look for the team from HFL to have an excellent rookie year, with many more successful years to follow.

That is great to hear and i am very proud of the Ruckus committee and having it being held at Webster this year. That was a dream of mine from Day one of robotics and it came true.

I love to see rookies come in at offseasons and enjoy what they see and reflect upon it and see how well they do in the year.

I brought a classmate form school down and he was very excited and also had a great time. We will only be doing FVC this year, hopefully next year or years down the road Alfred State will bump up from FLL and FVC to FRC.

Ehh we like to do things differently :) Theoretically that should make competition tougher. 6 & 7 are likely a lot more closely matched than 7 & 2. It was done that way last year as well. We do the offseason more for practice for the teams and their rookie members than for the actual competition itself. Its meant to be more fun and less stressful. There were still some awesome matches, but it makes the competition more even.

For all that attended... we will be updating the website in the next week or so with results and information, as well as asking for feedback on how to make next year even better!! We also have a few shirts left that we will put up for paypal buys if anyone is interested.

So thanks to everyone who came, and most especially thanks to all of our volunteers & pie recipeints. The competition this year was amazing and full of true GP!!

I want to give special thanks to 1503 for donating some volunteers last minute, coming so far & for being a great addition to our great list of teams. Thanks to Jack & 1213 for brining their robot for Rochesters newest rookie team! And I cant thank 1126 enough for being amazing hosts and for all their help with setup & teardown. You guys were awesome! And thanks to my team, 90% of them volunteered, and you guys really helped make this event happen!

And last I need to thank some special people. We can't thank Mike Wade enough for all the work with the NASA field, it worked out better than we could have hoped, and Mike was there for us the whole way along. What a class act!! (not to mention awesome trailer!) Thanks to Steve W for coming all the way from the great white north and training a new MC (we hope Angry Eric made you proud!). Thank you to all the members of the Ruckus committee, you are a great group to work with, and you make this event better every year!! And last but not least, special thanks to Bob Schlaegel of 1126, without him, we might not have had the awesome venue we did, and things definitely wouldnt have run as smoothly!

Ok ok... enough of my rambling. I know there are lots of people Im sure I forgot... but thanks to everyone that came, it was a great event this year!! Rah Cha Cha truely Rocks!! :)

Thank you to everyone for making this event possible! Thanks to 1511, and planning committee for making this event possible, and for putting so much time into the event! Thanks to 1126 and Webster Thomas for allowing us to use your facilities! This was a great event and I look forward to next year!
See you all at FLR!

I'd like to add a second thank you to Steve, both for coming down here and his words of advice after the event was over. Your honest and constructive feedback was greatly appreciated, it was a great honor getting to work with one of the best announcers I've seen in FIRST.

Hope the drive back home Saturday night was quick and uneventful ;)

The pleasure was all mine. Ruckus is a great bridge to the upcoming season. Great teams, great people and great fun. For those that have not attended you are really missing out. I find it an honor to be asked to help out. Rochester is a vibrant growing area with all of the best qualities that can be found in FIRST. The teams there work together to produce awareness in the community and spirit that can be felt when you are around them.

Congratulations to the event team on another wonderful event. A special thanks to Greg for setting up the VEX demo competition. It gave us all a chance to work on VEX and see what a wonderful product that it is. Also Greg, thanks for being gentle with the pie and kudos to Ed for passing up his tickets twice to allow Greg to punish me.

As for the MC, what can I say. I see great possibilities for the Angry One. He will continue to improve and I will soon be pushed out of a job. Great working with you.
