New Website, new banner

Hi, haven't been here for a while and I see that the Computer Graphics section is looking desolate, so I'm here to fill it up.

Entirely made by me in photoshop

Our website is here
http://bhs949.pininxweb.com/
*The banner inside is a temp, because we did not make the background*

Any comments are always welcome, I feel like something is missing or something is not in the right place. Not impressive enough. More vectors? heheh

Okie dokie.. time to sleep.

After all suggestions, this is the second draft.

Anything else I should do? I also changed the format of the pic to png to reduce size.

I like the floating FIRST logos the most :P

I like the graphic that you posted here, but I only have one concern. When I viewed the properties of that image, it said the image was nearly 99 Kb. A good rule of thumb when designing web pages is to have the entire page total out at 100 Kb or so, as this will help cut back on your bandwidth usage and it will help your website load much faster.

Otherwise, everything looks good. :)

P.S. On the website you posted here, you might want to avoid having the Media Gallery from opening in a new window. ;)

I hate to be "that jerk", but your FRC logo violates the logo rules...

Oh, thanks for telling me this, I never knew about this rule.

Anytime, but man, I do like that logo, but I'm a sucker for that whole modernist future feel...

The Header would still look great however with the FIRST logo as per the rules of usage, if not better in my opinion.

I really love the rest of it, great work.

OMG. You have the coolest banner ever. I could sit there and move those FIRST logos around all day long...

*is very easily amused*

Maybe something else in the middle? I don't know what, but maybe what you're seeing is that their is stuff in every area of the banner except for the middle section...maybe a team logo to match the color scheme?

Eh, I don't know about this one.

When I look at this image, my eyes are instantly drawn to the white area in the middle and the team name. If you put something more here, it might become "distracting" causing the initial attention of the person to drift elsewhere. I think it's good as it is.

I think it looks great, just take out the FIRST logo. It's distracting as is, everything else looks smooth and together, and then there's just this block with the FIRST logo in it that looks out of place.

If you do not want to get rid of the FIRST logo, you may want to consider replacing it with the version that has black & grey font and a white background. I think this will blend better with the rest of the logo.

Overall, great job with the design!!

Believe it or not, FIRST has been trying to distance themselves from the name "U.S. FIRST" for a while now. That's still representative of their legal name (United States Foundation for the Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), and their URL (because http://www.first.org* is someone else), but for every other purpose, they're just FIRST now. So that marquee in the top left ought to be amended.

*Wow, they (the other FIRST) finally got a new website....

I agree with Ryan and artdutra... If the FIRST logo wasn't in there, it would look sooo much better. Other than that, it is nearly artistically perfect. Attention is drawn right where it needs to be, the name.
