Maybe this? Or just search "rubber softener" and see what comes up.

Do you know what kind of rubber (or plastic) they are?

You will need to find out what kind of rubber that is and search for some type of reconditioner.

I know that there is a product out there called "303 aerospace protectant". I use it on the rubber seals on my car, it makes them more flexible. Im not sure if it will work for you application though.

I've heard of Simple Green being used to soften RC Car tires. I don't know if the same would apply for this.

  • Get an old rag and some house hold bleach
  • Get the rag moist
  • Apply the bleach in moderation to the treads
  • Wait 5 minutes, if no results try again with a little more bleach
  • Wash it all off with water throughly when done
*Gloves might be a tip

I recall WD-40 being a recommended item for softening tire tread in my R/C truck days (at the expense of tread wear, lest you think there was a freebie there).

Burris Quicktime #2 - sold here at Comet Kart Sales is a spray used in go-kart racing to soften tires and achieve improved traction. For $7, it's worth a try.

From what I've read, this sort of softener is deemed illegal in some go-karting competitions, so it must work.
