Here's mine:


It has a cut in half 64mb ram stick with one of the blocks broken off, my "hotness key", and a 1gb Corsair flash drive (with cap removed, ready to go!).

This is what happens when:

2. you have access to a drill press and
3. you are bored!



Disclaimer: some car keys now have proximity ID chips in the plastic lump. If you cut it, your car wont start. If you are not sure dont yell at me.

I know, I know - it's a mess, right? But wait! There's more!



See, carrying around so many keys is such a pain in the butt, I have separate key rings for each set. So if I only need my car keys, I can easily grab them and go. If I'm going to the grocery store, I'll take the car keys and all the little "member cards". If I have to stop at the Post Office, I'll grab the PO Box keys.

What's there:
Member cards (with Superior Roboworks key chain!), car keys (with Team 93 key chain), PO Box keys, house keys (Houghton), house keys (home). My truster carabiner is in the middle, and a quarter is next to the car keys for comparison.

A car key, a house key, a key to the cabinet in the shop, a key to my parents house, and two keys I can't remember what they are for (one may be a key to the cottage in Connecticut, the other a key to a lock that has been changed).

The butt key chain was a gift from Megan Lavery, and the Foster key chain was bought in Scotland, it's the Foster Clan coat of arms (on the back is our motto: "Hunter Blow Thy Horn"). Foster's a name that can be traced to England, Scotland and Ireland, and I can honestly say I do have at least one pure blooded Scottish ancestor (not a Foster, but shhhh! don't tell anyone)

Clockwise from the top: facility key, house key, small key that fits some PCs, small lock key, flash drive, LED, car key. All on an old team 501 carabiner (I still have three more in case this one breaks.)

Do you all know that many of your keys could be duplicated from the pictures?

I spy a Saturn someone could snatch in Reston, VA - then clean out that residence with the Kwikset locks :(

Given that you know how to gauge the points on the keys that have to be accurate to within thousanths of an inch.

Making duplicates of keys is too much trouble when all you need to know is some simple lock theory. That's why most new houses come with wired alarm systems.

What you see: Car Key, House Key (gold), Bedroom Key (silver), Clip, I see dumb people keychain, FIRST Keychain : Aquired - my mentor threw it at me =] I kept it.

(and in the background the vase of the roses Adam got me for the 6 month mark)

Sigh. If they got my car, no big loss, it's a 97 and not in the best of shape... I really should get that clicking noise checked out... and I think three of the tires are bald... As for making a copy of the house key, good luck, I had to take the original to 4 different locksmiths before I finally got a copy made that kind of works, most of the time.

But, point taken, my keys have now been cloned and altered.

A "P-38" is a simple small little GI can opener first issued by the Army to troops in WWII to open cans of C-Rations. It is about 1.5 inches long by about .5 inches wide with a little triangular flip out blade. They weigh almost nothing. Google "P-38 can opener" for lots of pics and places to get a REAL one. I have seen similar ones at Wal-Mart in the camping section (some even with a little spoon on the end). The "P-38" is a really useful tool to have on your key-chain. Besides it's original purpose as a can opener it works as a screwdriver (both flat and Phillips), a wire stripper, and all sorts of other things you will never know until you need it in a pinch and pull out your key-chain. It is probably the best 50 cents you can spend. We have even used the one on my key-chain to actually open cans of food during dinner at robotics build nights! Get one, put it on your key-chain, and you will never regret it for the rest of your life!

looks like i would have the most keys out of all of the pictures posted. :p

Alright, i got my handy knife, 5 masterlock type keys, house key, dorm key, mail key, truck key, 2 keys to my robotics course trainer. that would be it.

Copy away. I have problems figuring what they are all for. They all do serve a purpose besides keeping a person that is full of hot air on the ground.

Very impressive! My keychain isn't worth posting...1 car ignition key, one car door fob, an elegant key chain that I received as an award and a Molson bottle opener that I recently added as a joke. And I think it is too bulky most of the time!
I could never keep track of that many keys! :ahh:

Just a quick note. If you look hard enough at the leather tag it has a outline of Africa on it. I got it when I was there a few years back. The wire gauge was given to me by a team at a FIRST event. I have carried since but can't remember the team.
