Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
Good day today. Our team didn't get a chance to show off our arm as every alliance wanted us to play defense. Tomorrow however, our first match we will be the only scorer

Hope to see you and team 188 in ATL this year! Oh, and Congrats to Karthik too! |

Congrats Mr.Breadner!
and Congrats Karthik! |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
Congratulations Karthik!! What a very deserving honor! Keep up the awesome work for all you do for FIRST and the people in it who look up to you. :)
And while I don't know Mark personally, It seems his role in FIRST is equally as impressive as Karthik's. Congratulations to you as well! |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
Mark Breadner is one of the awesomest people in FIRST, but he's also unfortunately one of the most unknown relative to his contributions. Ever since we took the plunge to go to the inaugural Canadian Regional in 2002, 48 has consistently been amazed by the Herculean efforts Mark and his family (along with the countless other notable volunteers up north) have poured into developing FIRST in Canada. He and his staff have always made us and all the other American teams feel most welcome at their event, and this has continued with the passing of the torch to Vance Scott and now Karen Rosenthal. The Canadian regionals are the best planned, staffed, and executed events in all of FIRST (they even give IRI a run for their money :D ), and no other event can match the fun and excitement buzzing through the building, especially on Saturday. Mark is one of the people who've been there all along, guiding FIRST in Canada to the success it is today.
Mark, congratulations, and thanks again for all the wonderful memories you and your family have helped bring to Team 48 over the years. |

I think tomorrow we will play defense on 1114 while we're partnered with them just to even up the odds a bit. You know, help push em into a corner, limit them to maybe 4-5 ringers. Maybe 4 vs. 2 would make it a fairer fight against these guys? :) Karthik and Derek, if you read this, picture me with a big grin on my face as I unleash a maniacal "MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA......" wicked laugh of doom as I speak the above. :D |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
How disrespectful of me to not say this in the previous post :o :)
Congratulations Karthik! You really deserved it, if only everyone was as devoted as you are. |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional

The trick to defending 1114....any strong offensive bot, really....is to defend their entire alliance appropriately, which requires the appropriate partners who are inclined to play the appropriate style of defense with the necessary communication. It can be done; the question is, will it? Tune into the Discovery Channel webcast on Saturday to find out! |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
Congrats Karthik, maybe one day i will become as well known as you, i've heard good things about you all the way down here in Florida.
If your as passionate off the feild as you are on the feild announcing at Waterloo and GTR, then everyone else gots some catching up to do. It would be an honor to meet you and Derek (Congratulations to him for winning the WFA at Waterloo) at Championships. You guys celebrate the TRUE sprit of FIRST, and i thank both of you for that |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
We had a good day yesterday ending up in 26th. Today will be great Can't wait until Playoffs. Good job every team that won awards yesterday!!!

Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
Good luck today to 1141, 1281, and 1565!
I also want to point out to any teams that scouted 1565 in waterloo and deemed them unreliable and highly defendable: They haven't had a single breakdown, they've scored 3-6 ringers consistently in all their matches, and their drivers have gained enough skill to deke out defenders. They would make a good 'diamond in the rough' pick that would be overlooked by other teams going by ranking. Edit: Come to think of it, any scouts out there probably won't be on CD until tonight, when it's all over. ... :( 1565 FOR THE WIN!!! 51-38 I'm pretty sure that my favorite quote of the competition will be from one of the pre-taped things on the discovery channel: "This robot isn't preparing for baywatch, but ..." |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
Just noticed that GTR did BOTH the Canadian and US National Anthum
why don't they do the Canadian national anthem at US regionals where Canadian teams are attending. or this should go for any other team at any other regional. |
