Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
I think the coverage is interesting... it's a good balance of matches and commentary. Sometimes it's exhausting to watch match after match, but it does get annoying when I want to see a score and they cut away to do interviews or something. Luckily they are staying on top of updating the match results here:
http://www2.usfirst.org/2007comp/eve...chresults.html EDIT: wow, I just saw the match score on that site a good 30 seconds before they announced it on the field. PS. you see that match with 2056 and 854 getting 276 points? I smell a new high score within the next couple days! |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
Yeah I think for FIRSTers this is not the ideal webcast we want to see scores, and all the other stuff we have come to know. But from a newbie perspective I think it would probably be pretty good.

The webcast is good (if a bit interlaced) and the interviews are growing on me. They've had a few odd cuts though. During a match once, they cut from the match video to a video of a computer screen SHOWING the match video  |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
WOW... 1114 188 and 1680 just put up 308 points BEFORE ramps!!!
edit: 338-4! crazy!! It was 3 vs 1 though. |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
338, is that a new high score?
Edit: the interview said that it is. Edit2: Hahahaha, in a later match 1221 really settled a score with a ringer. I'm assuming something odd happened with their drivetrain, because they kept on running over a ringer that they got stuck on and popped. |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
that is the new high score

Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional

:ahh: |
Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
GTR definitly seems to be on a different level of competition then other regionals.. Just saw another score of 256, wow!

Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
I've just tuned in, I'm really liking the discovery channel cut away coverage of interviewing the drivers and things like that. However, is it just me or is there like zero music playing during the matches through the webcast feed? Not to mention that the game announcer is lacking in enthusiasm, so the matches themselves seem to be pretty boring at the moment. Karthik of course kicks it up a notch but things seem a bit slow, maybe it's just me though.

Discovery doesn't have the rights to broadcast the music played at a FIRST event. This isn't an issue for the NASA webcasts since NASA is a government institution and isn't profiting from the webcasts, whereas discovery is profiting from the ads placed around the webcast box. |

Is it just my computer, or is the sound level really low? I have my computer on full volume and can still barely hear anything.

Re: 2007 Greater Toronto Regional
The music you hear is ambient music. The voices should be better. The reason is that they are not licenced for the music therefore they cannot broadcast such.
