Unfortunately not.
So many worthy mentors and coaches but there only can be ONE (nominee per team).

from last years manual section 9.4.3

Quote:

Each team may nominate one candidate to be a WFFA winner.

only 1 per team, If you can't decided or feel that they both should be honored you can nominate them for the Unsung FIRST hero's on this site.

Have your kids vote on who you wish to nominate..

That's what we do. We kick out ALL the mentors out of the room, write up all the names, and have the students vote.

Also, keep in mind, if a nominees wins a Woodie Flower Finalist Award (regional WFA), each year after that the team may update his award (until he wins the Championship WFA). For example, 116 submitted Dave Lavery at Chesapeake in 2005 (and he won). In 2006, we updated his essay for evaluation at the Championship level. But we also submitted Mike Wherley at Peachtree, and he won the WFFA there. This year, we will update both of their essays for the CMP WFA, and submit another mentor at the VCU regional.

Basically, you can only submit one mentor to be judged at the Regional Level each year (the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award). If that mentor wins, (s)he becomes eligible for the Woodie Flowers Award (at the Championship event). (S)He remains eligible until they win the WFA at the Championship level. Each year, you may submit a revision to their entry.
But also, you may submit a new mentor at the Regional level.
116 has been lucky enough to have 2 WFFA winners on our team. Dave Lavery won in 2005, and we revised his essay in 2006. Mike Wherley won in 2006. In 2007 we will revise BOTH of their essays, and submit a new one at the regional level.

And yes, I've known Aaron since 3rd Grade. Wacky guy :p

Please nominate mentors, parents, teachers for the UFH. Allow others to know of their importance to you and let others recognize them as well.

Since you are voting early in the season I would recommend selecting 2-3 candidates and then work on all their submissions (if you have the manpower).
For the final submission in Feb. 2007 have a final vote after everyone read all the submissions. (It can make a big difference who gets picked)

Submission your top candidate and take good care of the other two submissions for next year. Do inform the 2 or 3 WFA finalist that they have being chosen and give them a copy of the WFA (on nice paper and framed if you want to go all the way!).
It is amazing the joy it brings to mentors/coaches/parents when they read the WFA write-up. I have seen many happy tearing adults that didn't know the team care so much.
:]

I believe you can only revise a regional winner's essay and resubmit at the Championship level for only three years after they win the regional.

I think it will continue to infinity. In 2004, you could only revise 2003 entries, in 2005 you could only revise 2003 and 2004 entries, and in 06 you could only do 03, 04, and 05 entries. I think they are just extending it one year each year, as to help spread out the WFFAs (but still allow existing WFFAs to be able to win the WFA).

Stay tuned... this is currently being discussed by the judging committee. Neither case is for sure.
