sorry about that but most of our team members think its true. if u think about how well built their robot. i think its obvious that they have like a proffesional build it. but i apoligize if it offended u.

Re: 2007 Finger Lakes Regional!
whatever. already have a dictionary thanks just lazy and dont really care about spelling at the moment. people can still understand what im saying. also i know the one other person who is on our team who is in the same room agrees about moe. i apoligize again for the offending comment. i have thought that ever since i started. in our teams opinion its true. they always seem to be one of the best bots in the regional and always seem to have the most decorated bits. its like there rich or something.

Re: 2007 Finger Lakes Regional!
It's true that MOE is known for building incredible robots. However, it's not much in the spirit of FIRST to accuse them of having it professionally built. And as far as Team 365 being rich, maybe they do really great fundraising. Even better, maybe the team has sponsors that can see the benefit of FIRST and are willing to contribute great help. In the future, you might want to know the whole story about a team before making such terrible assumptions about the way it operates. Good luck at Philly by the way, I hope it's as great as last year, perhaps even better.

Re: 2007 Finger Lakes Regional!
Ever think of this? Some teams do it? I don't know if they do professionally build it, but isn't the kids building the robot professionally done. I mean who better to build a robot than a bunch of people who have been in FIRST for a while?
Come on I can name 300 teams easy that LOOK like they are professionally done but you haven't called those teams out. But look this is a place for growth and learning. Not a place for someone to make a personal grudge known to all. If you have an issue with a team please keep it to yourself. No one on here wants to hear about it. Once again it is making you, your team and your sponsors look bad. |
Re: 2007 Finger Lakes Regional!
Folks,
Please take it easy with the Negative Reputation button. Kathimm1 has already PM'd an apology. Please review this thread started by Jane Young about "What Would You Say to the Newer Members of CD". http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=50532 PM should often be used before the Negative Rep button. Thanks! |

Also to reiterate what the people above me said, don't bash any team ever. Thanks. |

Just stop it. I don't know what your issue is with MOE but there is no reason whatsoever for you to personally attack another team for any reason. If your issues with MOE really runs that deep then take it up with them face to face in Phili but what you are doing is causing your team undue strife with team 365 for whatever personal reasons drive you, probrably without their consent plus you are hijacking a thread, which is a bannable offense here. Therefore cease and desist this behavior immediately please. |
Re: 2007 Finger Lakes Regional!
Let's end the discussion (bashing, etc.) of MOE and go back to the 2007 FLR, otherwise this thread (and any spawned from it) will be closed.

Re: 2007 Finger Lakes Regional!
Folks:
I am Team Coordinator for MOE 365 and had originally not planned to respond to the comments made here. I would hope that, as previously suggested, this thread get back to it's original topic intent. For information, I have offered to the original poster that I would gladly make myself available to her and any team members to explain how we handle the build season. I will answer any question to the best of my ability. So, let's move on and get back to our originally scheduled CD thread... :D |

I tried asking this in the FLR thread about video and photos but I got no response there. Does anyone have the video of the imagery award being given out?

Re: 2007 Finger Lakes Regional!
As a member of MOE 365 I would like to thank all of you for the kind words about MOE and for sticking up for us.
kathimm1, Yes MOE dose build a very high quality robot each year, this is due to having a very high quality team. Each MOE student starts our team in Sept and from then to December each student goes through MOE University. This is where each student is trained in Mechanical, Electrical,Programing, Fund raising, Brainstorming, Web site development, Team Building activities, Proper and safe use of hand tools, machine tools and general safety in a work place and FIRST environment. Each class/ session is taught by professional engineers, teachers and other professionals in their respected fields. This is how MOE is able to build a quality, and nice looking, robot each year. You also mentioned out Pit. The MOE pit was build and developed in 2001-2002 and has since then has had minor additions and subtractions to it each year. The pit was build and designed by students, I can personal attest to this because I spend my 2002-2003 winter break helping rebuild parts of it. Just because MOE has a nice looking pit dose not mean we are "rich" most all of the materials for the pit and in the pit were donated by members, families and our sponsors. MOE is a large team with about 30 students average each year and about 10-15 mentors from engineers to our boosters. Most of the adults on our team are parents or current students or alumni who come back to help the next generation of MOE students. I am sorry if you find our team annoying, We wear bright MOE GREEN jerseys to let people know that we are there and having FUN. MOE loves to Cheer and show our spirit because we love FIRST and the impact that it has on our students, families, mentors and even our sponsors and we love to support all the other great FIRST teams that worked to make it to the events. Now to the part about us having a great robot that " we must have a professional build" It is true we do have a professional build it, about 30 of them. Each one is a professional high school student who was trained in MOE university and has help and mentoring from our mentors. MOE is student built and designed, yes we have help from our mentors but its help and guidance not just doing it for the student only trust me each year students build things that don't work that I am positive that some of the mentors could fix for us but the only way to learn is to make mistakes and they do let us make mistakes and then get the great experence on how to fix them thats what FIRST is about, learning. Thank you for saying that each year we have one of the best bots, I can think of lots of other great bots each year but thanks for the comment. Also the decorations for the bot are always added on after the robot is built and is always something done just for fun. Most all of the decorations on the robot are just spray paint and cloth with stickers that anyone from any team can get made at a local print shop and buy from a local paint shop. MOE has been around for almost 8 years now and it has taken almost 8 years to get where we are and it will take even more years to get where some of the other great teams are at right now, yes we have had some great luck by having awesome sponsors who really do value FIRST and its message and also some of the most dedicated parents and mentors that I have ever met. Each and every year we will have set backs and leaps forward just like every other team in FIRST. If you have any more questions or comments about MOE 365 please refer to our website www.moe365.org or you can PM me, email me at kyle.a.rice@gmail.com or IM me at greenguy365 but please keep negative comments about any team or person off of CD forums so as not to make your team or your self look bad. Team 104 is a great team, I think last year your team was a finalist at one of your regionals, I hope that in Philly this week that you can have a better idea of MOE and please stop by our pit and talk to our people to see who we are and what we really do, just don't forget your safety glasses. Best of luck to your team and all other teams attending Philly -Kyle |

Sorry, I saw the number 24 and it must've just been a reaction. To be honest I'm worried about hurting Rover before now and then. I mean, we are adding some peices on that aren't battle tested and I hear ATL is gonna be hard on D. |

Wow, the be perfectly honest, I completely forgot we got Rover back after ATL. I've gotton so used to the 'no, you can't work on it, it's in a warehouse in a crate and you can't touch it!' mentality that it completely slipped my mind.

Re: 2007 Finger Lakes Regional!
Ed, it might have slipped your mind, but I'm graduating this June :p So unless you guys get me some award ideas before then, I really can't do anything to help you out... But hopefully my teacher will show some of the younger students how to use the laser cutter so that they can help you out.

I see more teacher and student involvement from them. If all goes through we will hopefully be able to get a robot from some team or atleast a kit chassis and make it to the Ruckus! |
Re: 2007 Finger Lakes Regional!
This may sound a little noobish (Hey look I made a word!) but even though I've been in FIRST for 2 years now, I've never heard of Rah Cha Cha Ruckus. Could someone please explain to me what it is(and where)?
Thanks. SSMike |

If any Rochester teams are interested in helping with the Committee, PM me as well... I will be sending out invites to all local team leaders POST-ATL!! |
