FRIDAY THE 13TH!

Today is Friday the 13th! YAY!!!

Does anyone have any bad/good luck stories about Friday the 13th or any other superstitions?

As for me, about a year ago, a black cat walked in front of me, and for the rest of the night whenever I knocked on someones door they gave me candy!

Of course that could be because it was also Halloween... :D

How about surviving a Category 4 hurricane with 135+ mph winds, while you are stuck in a hotel only 12 miles from the eye?

Hurricane Charley made landfall on the evening of Friday, August 13th, 2004 in Punta Gorda, Florida. While it was still light outside, there was a whole forest outside the hotel room I was in. The next morning there was all of three trees left, and they were in such a horrible condition they would likely die or need to be cut down.

Most roads in the area were unpassable. Some buildings in the area were a complete loss. Outside of our hotel - which had a backup generator - there was no electricity, no landline telephones, no cell phone service. There was evidence of either a very strong microburst or a Category 0 or 1 tornado only a 1/4 mile from our hotel room.

Somehow though I'd probably classify this as a good luck story. It's not until after one sees the full force of what Mother Nature can dish out that respect for the weather is learned. I've been through countless nor'easters and 2-3 foot blizzards, tornadic thunderstorms (as in funnel clouds passing overhead and touching down the town over), and an ice storm, but Hurricane Charley was the worst.

When I was in grade school, every Friday the thirteenth I had a run in with a dog or got bit by one. Even dogs I knew and petted everyday went nuts on the 13th.

If that's the case...

How about them Yankees? First Cory Lidle crashes his plane into a skyscraper (sad, sad story- scary too), and then on Friday the Thirteenth, the plane A-Rod was on with 6 other people overshoots the runway. STAY AWAY FROM SMALL PLANES, YANKEES, STAY AWAY!!!!

And yes, I'm a Yankees fan.

Ironically, Friday the 13th is the day I don't have bad luck...funny the way that works...

Actually, I might even go so far as to say today was actually good. At my swim meet today, one of the girls on my team broke a school record (a 57:8something in the 100 freestyle). And for myself, I got my best 100 butterfly time.

From what I've noticed, superstitions seem to go backwards for me. I don't really know why.

Amusingly it it our school's homecoming game.
And even more funny is this:
The power at our school went out five minutes into first hour!
Apparently a transformer blew... it was great getting sent home at nine thirty am and not having a pep assembly.
However it is a good day because we won our game 34 - 0 and a good friend of mine was born on a Friday the 13th

Its funny, because I just got back from Halloween Horror Nights at Universal with my friends.
But it wasn't as scary as I had expected.

Being "in the biz" and I guess in indirect competition with them, I am glad to hear that. :D

Let's see.. my day (after midnight 10/13) started off with crazy phone calls, followed by some sleep, then crazy work day where stuff I thought I knew to be fact was turned upside down again, and then I ended my day and just got home from working the Haunted Graveyard At Lake Compounce here in CT.

Good times had by all. Nothing bad happened. I guess.

I did hear from a friend that their tour bus broke down in NYC though. I have yet to hear the rest of the story though. I'll have to make a phone call some time tomorrow.

Happy Saturday the 14th btw.

Well I did have some bad luck yesterday. When my mom was going to drop me off at school because it was about 32 degrees outside (and yes we did get a bit of snow), and the car battery died right before we left the driveway. Also, in my A+ Certification class, right as we started to take a test online, the whole school server crashed and we couldn't take the test. Rather than that, no bad yesterday.
