Oh, roadside attraction, that makes sense.
No, no Mariachis would be there. Thank you.

I have been there a couple times in my life. I must say that it is a neat place. I hope no one took offense to what I said, I was just making an observation. I said it, knowing that it was not true. South of the Border is an interesting place in the least.

I dont know how long they have been there, since the 50s?

I stopped there back in the 70s when I was in the Coast Guard in WPB Florida, driving either way back home to Buffalo. It makes a good milestone pitstop, being right on the boarder between states, because you tend to gauge where you are on a long trip by the state lines.

And also because you could buy fireworks in South Carolina, but not in North Carolina.

How many countless thousands of parents, taking their kids to florida on Route 95, had to listen to the kids in the back seat, for 100+ miles

when they started seeing the billboards: "CAN WE STOP AND GET FIREWORKS? CAN WE STOP AND GET FIREWORKS? CAN WE......"

Of all the times I've driven back and forth to Florida, I can't remember stopping there once.

It's even more funnier when you're driving around and seeing all the vehicles with the South of the Border bumper stickers. From Baltimore to Boca Raton it's like every other car has one!

Tell me about it. Attached is a picture of a hole I burned in my team 45 shirts from shooting bottle rockets off at my friend's grandmother's house in Pittsburgh. Shortly afterward I managed to fall through a fence. Not over the fence, through it. I am a man that knows how to humble myself. However, the grandmother was still proud of us nonetheless.

'Twas amazing when we stopped at South of the Border on the way down to the Palmetto Regional two years ago. Originally, our coach was adamant about not stopping there...until the 30+ of us started chanting "PEDRO, PEDRO, PEDRO" and he was forced to reconcile. But no fireworks for us :(.

Aha.....I see you found the Bilfred statue next to that moose and bear at the chili and burger place. Those Bilfred statues are popping up at all the rest stops along I-95 promoting FIRST. ;)

Yeah, South of the Border is one of those places I love to hate. Been there five times during the weirdest hours of the day and night. I tell myself not to buy any cheesy souvenir but my dashboard is full of them.
