Gas or Electric??
 

Just wondering....

If we could change....would you choose a gas motor/engine for a robot over electric powered motors?

geeze louise, gas powered robots, just add to the emissions pollution from cars......!!!!!!!!!!!;)

No car engines...
 

I'm not talking car engines...just something like mower engines and other smaller gas powered engines...:)

only one possible problem: the fumes...can you imagine what the 2am work sessions would come to if you added that to the mix?

if we were to go to the gas side, i'd think that we would be fore like junkyard wars.

i do like gas. it gives you more power.

Oh well....i guess i lose on this one....:) I still think it would be cool to see the robots with gas powered parts, it would even sound cool....:)

p.s. Or our robots would become like the avatar below...

I'll go with electric because it would be easier to set up our combiners/gear boxes. Plus, the gearboxes on our 00' bot blew up a lot for some odd reason. We fixed that though.

I don't really like either choice, if that makes any sense..I see the problem of fire if we went with gas and that electric may be getting old..so I have an idea..why not use a motor powered by something else? Dew, perhaps? That would be interesting. Don't they have cars or something that are powered by baking soda or something weird like that? Just an idea..not a good one, but any idea :)

Hmm... we could use the old baking soda-vinegar(sp??) reaction as a power source. Or Zinc & Hydrochloric Acid.

I think using sterling engines would be neat. But a more realistic idea would be Air power, I.E. Air motors, more pneumatic pistons, and ad some nice tanks.

But you'd still need a power source for those, in which case, you'd probably get your power from a battery.

yea this is true, but the battery isnt power the motors, just the solenoids and sensors, and RC.
