AndyMark sponsors Team in a Box Version 3.0

Thank you to everyone for your support of “Team in a Box” these last two years.

We are pleased to announce that AndyMark Inc. is now an Official Sponsor of Team in a Box starting with Version 3.0. This show of support will help keep Team in a Box a free resource for all teams. We want to thank Andy Baker and Mark Koors for making this commitment to helping our Rookie teams!!

With a release date of 11/7/06, the Version 3.0 DVD will feature interviews with Dean Kamen, Andy Baker, Rich Kressly, Mike Wade, and many other prominent FIRST icons. We will also continue to feature segments from knowledgeable Hall of Fame Teams such as Team 103 (Animation) and Team 67 (Drive trains). We have also improved the menus for this edition.

The CD disk will have an improved interface and feature new whitepapers from AndyMark, Team 45, FIRST and NEMO along with new contributions from individuals and teams.

Looking ahead to version 3.1, Team 111, “Wildstang” will contribute a video advice segment for the DVD.

Over 2000 copies of Team in a Box have now been distributed to 10 countries, 5 continents, and almost every US state. We even just sent a copy to Sri Lanka!
But none of this would be possible without support. Thanks to AndyMark we can continue to make this disk set available, free of charge for Rookies, pre-Rookies and the veterans that mentor them.

For more information about Team in a Box please visit our website at www.team341.com and then click on the Team in a Box banner.

Thank you for supporting Rookies everywhere!!!

Is it possible to download the Team in a Box videos or DVD ISO on our own? I'd be interested in checking out some of the contents, but I don't want to burden you with production and shipping costs.

Sounds great, I can't wait to see the new version. I got to speak with some of the students involved in making this project and was very impressed with the amount of time and effort they were putting into this project. It is already one of the best standing resources for teams and am am sure this new edition will make an already great thing better.

can we start pre-orders now? ;)

We are not set up to do that yet. However we would be happy to send you a copy.

Just go to team341.com and click on the "Team in a Box" Banner.

Thank you for the support. We will make sure you get one of the first copies. Just order on 11/7/06 and we'll get it right out to you.

We hope that it has been a useful resource and that it has eased the burden for rookies, pre-rookies and the veterans that mentor them.

Our philosophy for TIAB has always been based on three major premises.

The first concept is that of continuous improvement. We will never be finished making this disk more useful.
The second is that of including the experts. We want to gather all of the incredible knowledge that is out there. We are only scratching the surface so far.
We also deeply believe that this resource is not meant to replace mentoring, but should be used as one of many resources available to a new team.
We encourage all rookies to find that helpful veteran team that will guide them through this process. I think this central philosophy has helped to keep us focused the last two years.

Thanks again to Andy and Mark for keeping this dream alive!!

Indeed. Maybe someone can get a torrent going?

I too would like to check out the Team in a Box kit, I've never actually seen one before and it sounds very interesting. I'd be up for the torrenting of it, but only if team 341 supports it. I know they probably want to keep track of how many copies people have and that could be hard if a torrent is started.

I think, at least for now we will be sending out TIAB as a two disk set. There are several reasons. One is keeping track of the users and following up with users. We want to be able to offer help and also get product feedback.

There is also the quality control issue. We want all of the videos to be high quality, unmodified and in context with the menus and the white papers disk.

There is also something to be said about receiving a disk set that you can hold in your hand. There is a certain weight to that. (No pun intended :D )
It tells the viewer this is important enough information that we want to send it to you.
This is analogous to reading the Sunday paper versus getting your daily news online. Each method has its place but they very different experiences.

Sorry to get all philosophical about a DVD but I think it makes sense to us somehow. But I will bring this suggestion to the team.
But for now, as Aaron mentioned, just order it on the site ( www.team341.com ) and we will get it out to you right away.

Thanks for writing.

Team 341, Miss Daisy, has offered a great service in "Team in a Box" for many years. It is a wonderful resource, and a great project their entire team has undertaken.

Mark and I happy to help as sponsors, and we appreciate this opportunity from team 341 to be slightly involved with such a worthy project.

I had the opportunity to be interviewed in April*, and was overwhelmed with the students' organization, preparation, and professional manner in their approach to this project.

Sincerely,
Andy Baker

* - side note... Oddly enough, about an hour after the interview, my team was in a match against them. We had a battle on the ramp, and we ended up on our backs! It was good robot action, for sure, and a great match.

I filled out the form for a TIAB about a year ago, and I never received mine ;____;
Still, this sounds GREAT! I'm really glad you've put together such a wonderful collection of information!

Andy this support will help keep TIAB a free resource. We often hear comments that we ought to sell TIAB, but we don't want to do that. We want it to be a resource like Cheif Delphi. In the past TIAB was completely supported by student fundraising. Your support is moving us in the direction of sponsorship. This will allow us to expand our reach.

Thanks again from all of the rookie teams and our TIAB student production crew.

Re: AndyMark sponsors Team in a Box Version 3.0

This is an important alert for anyone that ordered Team in a Box this Fall. We recently discovered that our gmail site has been sending a certain percentage of requests directly to our spam folder. :ahh:

This folder is automatically deleted every 30 days and we are not sure how long this has been going on.

We think we have saved all of the misplaced November orders and will be sending them out shortly. Therefore we now have about 50 orders to fill all at once.

Here is the bottom line:

1) If you do not receive your TIAB within the next 10 days please go to the website and reorder.
2) If it has been more than 45 days since you placed your order, it was most likely lost. Please order again.

We sincerely apologize for this oversight and pledge to fill every missed request.
So please feel free to order again if you did not receive a copy. Thank you for your patience while we catch up on our orders.

Al Ostrow
