Before this turns into a big debate (which it seems to be about to), just remember that the OCCRA committee did put quite a bit of time and consideration of last year's events in deciding the competition structure for this season. You may not be pleased with it, which is fine, but instead of complaining about it here, you are welcome to give your input formally at the end of the season to the committee.

Well instead of debating lets brainstorm better ideas to give the commitee at the end of the season. Here is my idea:

"Every team may drop their 4 lowest scores and take the sum of their 14 best scores, any team that has only competed in 3 tournaments may drop their 4 lowest scores and take the sum of their remaining scores counting their lowest remaining score (after dropping the lowest score) an additional 4 times so that they are still taking the sum of 14 matches."

Anyone have any better ideas that still give teams an incentive to promote having females on their team but dont give teams that don't at such a disadvantage? Perhaps the same system can give teams that didn't make the first competition because of time crunch, but do have a female drive team the same slight advantage as it will give teams like 9 and 573.

The women's competition is cool and all, but if it needs to happen, I really feel it needs to happen after the competition is done. It put the all boy's school especially at a complete disadvantage. I joined the team last year purely because they needed a human player in order to compete for the women's competition and I loved it. I also know that walking around at a girl's competition, at LEAST half of those girls are only on the team for their boyfriends. They do no actually do anything. I love the competition, it DOES get girls involved, but it is COMPLETELY unfair to hold those scores against teams in the finals. The teams with girls involved normally driving do very well, because they are competing against teams with girls driving for the first time, we were placed with several teams who had never actually heard of the tether, and gave me a confused look when i asked to borrow it.
**It needs to be a competition, it also needs to be completely separate then the standing for the final***

Is the Women's Tournament one of the casualties of Prop 2?

I don't think it is. since prop 2 passed businesses cant hire someone based on race or gender they have to hire by looking at qualifications. <= I think i got that right. hope that helps. GOOD LUCK to all the teams competing at the competition tomorrow. :)

Proposed amendment to Michigan Constitution would "prohibit the University of Michigan and other state universities, the state, and all other state entities from discriminating against or granting preferential treatment based on race, sex, color, ethnicity or national origin."
The women's competition is still legal, OCCRA isn't a state entity.

However, the majority of Michigan agrees with me and cbaoth ;)

Sorry to put a damper on this, but this thread is to discuss the rankings of the regional. It's getting a bit off topic...
