Re: HOT TIP! SECRET Best Buy Ads

Best Buy was crazy. I got up at 6am Thursday for work...stayed up all day and got to Best Buy at Midnight. I waited outside in 30F temps (going on warm-up shifts with my group in our car) until 5am when we got in. At about 330, everyone packed up in like 30 seconds and scrunched together. At 4, they passed out the tickets...at about half way through the line, we got a few good ones that passed by (nothing i wanted was a ticket item). I managed to be the first group to enter the store and got corraled through the computer/phone stuff...no where near the projector I wanted. However, a friend of mine got it for me so I walked out the door with the $400 one :) Next me and my two friends went to iHop. After that, I went to Circuit City with one of my friends and waited THREE HOURS to get checked out (for two items). Now i'm at home resting before I go to work at 3.

Best Buy in Kokomo, IN was insane. We had decent weather; no rain, albeit a little cold. I was able to get everything I wanted; a 19" Widescreen Samsung Monitor, 2 GB SD Card and a 2GB Flash drive. That was about $200. My dad got the same Samsung monitor (they only had like...10 at the store) and was able to get one of the Sony DGR800(??) Receivers online at the Black Friday price. Though $399 isn't necessarily a great, or even good price, he also got a $150 gift card with it.

I walked in Staples this morning at 7am - there were no lines! - picked up a 1Gb Cruzer Flash drive for $15 (their shipment of the 2Gb ones was MIA) and a 2Gb SanDisk SD Card for $30 - and checked out about five minutes later. To add to that, there was an additional $7 online rebate on the flash drive, so I ended up paying only $8 for a 1Gb Flash drive that is normally $70.

I'd say that's a good deal. :D

And to make the day even better, I went skiing the entire afternoon at Jiminy Peak in the Berkshires. So today ended up being Black [and White] Friday. :p

My Staples haul was pretty straightforward:

1) The same $8 Cruzer Micro flash drive Art got
2) Free surge strip, since you can't have enough of them on campus.
3) The $249 PowerShot A620/printer combo (Brand new Canon photo printer for sale, yours for $70+shipping...)
4) Two 1 GB SD cards for the camera, as a) it was a smidge cheaper than one 2 GB, and b) it was suggested by a gentleman with me in line. (If one releases the magic smoke, you've got a spare.)

Well, earlier in the week while researching ads for today, I found a much better deal on a TV at the local Micro Center than Best Buy(these stores are pretty cool, my first time). I woke up at 3:30, took a short jaunt out to Radnor, and the line was already half way around the building! (Thankfully, about two hours later the manager came out and explained he had almost 200 TV's between 32in, 37in, and 42in; and began handing out the vouchers at the front of the line.)

I got the last 32in voucher and a 42in voucher. The wait thereafter wasn't bad, and the police security was AMAZING. I would say well over 500 people were in line. By 6:15 my group was in the store (30 at a time). I browsed for a Squid Surge and compressed air. I then proceeded to the next line to pick up my rebate forms (no wait). Third line, to check out - waited from 6:30-8 - and looked like an entrance to an amusement park ride. Then the fourth line was outside once again to wait for "TV pick-up/loading". Another hefty wait of TWO HOURS.

My first Thanksgiving as a responsible adult, hosting family in my home was successful - albeit this city life of Black Friday is not for me!

This was the first year I went Black Friday shopping. I went to Fry's to get a new hdd-Seagate Barracuda 500gb for $150, same price on Newegg. Also got a new set of headphones and headset. The line outside at 1 am when I drove by wrapped around the front half of the stores and I think halfway down the side. Inside for checkout, the line went through the whole store, but it wasn't too bad.

Ah! I walked in the local mall here at... 9:00AM. I walked out with everything I wanted and more. Actually, I just went to take my girlfriend some lunch, she works at Electronics Boutique. Anyways... there wasn't much to my Black Friday. Last year though, I went to Kohl's at 4AM to get a freaking NECKLACE!! Never again... hope you all had fun on Black Friday...

I did not go shopping on black friday, however my new girlfriend went to best buy and picked up one of those laptops with no trouble at all. The laptop is pretty darn good, and was a steal for $250.

The TV should come soon for us :)

I went to Best Buy at 0200, but didn't get what I wanted. The people at the front of the line had gotten there at 1000 on Thursday and had a cookout Thanksgiving.

Then my partner and I went into NYC. My first time at the flagship Macy's store, and that place is HUGE. Something I found weird was that there were only two mens rooms, in the Cellar and on the 7th floor. Then we walked around and browsed different stores, Nokia, Tiffany's, street vendors. I throughly enjoyed it. :D

Are those times Am or PM. I got to my local BB at 9:00pm and was 75 in line, so I went to Circuit City and was 15th in line

People got at my Best Buy at about 11:00am Thursday. I got there at Midnight Friday and was probably number 100 or so in line...but I got what I wanted :)

I went to my local circuit city at 4:00am, skipped right past the line, swiped my access card, and started working/scouting out what items I wanted. Ah the joys of retail. You guys should really see what it looks like to be on the other side of the doors when the first hundred people rush the store in the early morning. It seems more like a flood than a store opening...
