Re: 2007 Season - Who's missing?

Maryland, as of today, has 24 FRC teams. Numbers may change as teams trying to get last minute funding.

Participated in 2006, but has not signed up for 2007:
1449-Williamsport.

2 rookies:
2132 (Baltimore City)Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High
2199 (Carroll County)Liberty High

There were 2 other rookies on the list who have dropped out as individual teams. One (all girls-Western High in Baltimore City, has joined 1893-Poly). Another Baltimore City team-Carver- has decided to wait until next year.

Team 1980-Aberdeen is a new team, but received a second year number since they were part of another team last year.

528 has just merged with 341. We lost our 4 advisors and 2 major sponsers :(

So 1980 is a splinter team from 1719 or 1727, I presume.

So they aren't entirely new, they have a robot and they already competed/won one offseason event already (I forget if they competed at Ramp Riot or Brunswick Battle (whatever the name of the competition that Team 25 hosts)

Have you found anything about whatever happened to Team 53? All of the Gemstone staff here at Maryland knew about it and they thought that just because the Gemstone team left that the team just collapsed. That probably is not the main thing. Are they trying to get money or mentors? Have they moved on to VEX? Or have the professional mentors concentrated efforts on building up 1195?

And wow! I can't believe how FIRST has grown in Maryland. 24 teams? Why not make Chesapeake a 2-field regional with all the growth (To get it back to the Jet-Lag Reputation). Especially in the city that O'Malley was mayor of before he became governor-elect. (He may be a FIRST supporter and hope we get FRC teams in as many high schools as possible).

Was there any kind of Baltimore-City ordinance encouraging FRC growth by any chance?

The competition hosted by Team 25 is called Brunswick Eruption.

That sounds right. I'm not sure, however if 1980 went there or to one of the other nearby competitions. However, reading the offseason stuff has me believing that 1980 was there.

Growth in Baltimore City is because of a lot of hard work, some extremely dedicated teachers and some university partnerships, which is how many FIRST teams are started. If you look at the team names from Baltimore, you will see one common denominator.

well also in virginia besides 388 which LL mentioned...we still don't have 616, which is kinda in limbo until either someone licks them back in gear or the school board blesses them....hopefully 1610 will carry on in their stead until they can return...Some of their former mentors are helping us.

Team 22 is not competing this year due to lack of funds.

This really makes me sad. Did they even have enough to register for a regional?

For those of you who don't know, team 22 was an awesome team and won national chairmans. They pretty much ran robotics in southern california for a long time.

They did have enough for regestration. Most of Southern California robotics teams owe there team existance to them and all their efforts tring to get FIRST everywhere.

Team 650, Hella's Angels, appears to be absent this year. They will be greatly missed at the St. Louis regional.

Little old Delaware has stayed the same for the past few years with 2 teams but we now have a whole mess of VEX and FLL teams that feed us new students each year due to the very dedicated and hard working people at First State Robotics Inc.

Fortunately, instead of decreasing, the number of teams in Hawaii doubled from last year from two to four teams. Returning are teams #359 (Hawaiian Kids) and #368 (Team Kika Mana), with team #2024 (Waiakea Robotics) returning after a hiatus and rookie team #2090 (PETTronics).

Also, to have a regional next year in Hawaii (shown in this thread), Hawaii must host at least 12 local teams to get the $1 million grant from NASA to fund the regional. Hopefully, this means an increase of over three times the amount of teams from this year.

Re: 2007 Season - Who's missing?

IL has jumped to 28 teams with the addition of 12 rookie teams. Probably have much thanks to Wildstang for that... Only one loss in 650 that I noticed.*

*Note: I didn't study the IL teams before.
