CAM2 - Standalone

Hey guys,

Since im new, i brought home the camera to study it. I have been reading the Adobe Reader file and found out that you are able to connect it to the computer. Now, i have everything setup, it knows that its connect BUT, it still trying to connect to the camera. Hmm.. i guess it doesnt work because i do not have the pwm powering it? would that be the problem:P if u could let me noe if it needs a external power source that be great:)

Yes. You have to provide power to the CMUCam before it will talk to you :) .

You also need to make sure you have the baud rate set correctly or it will return garbled text. The camera needs at least 5 volts to run.

I highly recommend feeding it exactly the correct voltage (5V) instead of "at least 5 volts". You really don't want to fry a $200 piece of hardware.

The CMU cam has a 5V voltage regulator in it.

According to the manual "CMU2 requires 6-15 volts of DC power capable of 200mA of current"

I have run it at 5v off the RC and it works fine.
