Computer Help

Hi, I recently installed Windows 98se onto a computer for the TechnoKats, and I have a problem with the video driver. It will not get anything above 16 colors and 640X480 resolution. The driver that it has installed currently is the Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA) that comes with 98. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the resolution up to at least 1024X768. If so that would be great as we need it to get there at least. I am pretty sure that it is capable of reaching that as we have two of these computers (the other running XP) and the other one gets up to that resolution. I can't install XP onto it yet as it has a full 1gig HD right now, but for what we are going to use it for, that is all that we need. Thanks for any help I get in advance!

Have you tried checking the website of the manufacture for the drivers?

Also, make sure that it is on the compatibility list for Windows 98.

Well, that is the problem, I don't know who made it. The one thing I do know though is that it has integrated graphics.

I was doing this exact thing tonight with a windows ME machine. **shudders**
There's a great program, Everest Home Edition, that will tell you what hardware is in the PC it's running on. You can get all the specs, then go download the appropriate drivers for it.
It will tell you what the hardware is even if windows doesn't recognize it yet.

I'm pretty sure I have this situation handled ( I had him IM me ).

I suggested he open the case and view the manufacture... and he now has the driver for that.

I have found the solution! I can't believe that it had an ATI in it too! ;)

We got it handled...helpful to me too as I need a rage 128 driver and he pushed me to find it. Well, all I had to do was go to ati's website and do the normal downloads secion, quite easy to find... but yeah...

You could run a search on the motherboard and see what pops up, there also may be a program that can scan and identify the hardware but i'm not to sure about it. The Motherboard should have the company name and model on it which should point you in the right direction

ahh nevermind =( everyone else beat me to it.
