Re: Discovered Upgrade Issues
Maybe this has been discussed, but:
After I view (read?) a thread, its still shown as as new (bold face) in the portal. |

Re: Discovered Upgrade Issues
I tried to give someone rep, clicked the rep icon, and in the window that popped up, I clicked positive, then decided I'd rather give neutral rep and neutral wouldn't select. I clicked it, but it kept deselecting itself, so none of the option buttons were checked.

It's either the old way or this way -- there won't be a per-user setting. This way .. "uses the database to store thread and forum read times. This allows accurate read markers to be kept indefinitely. The forums are automatically marked as read when the last new thread is read." Would it make it easier if there were a button right on the portal that marked them read (save a click?). I could add that when I add in the proper handling of this new method of read vs unread. I will be adding in that bold 'These posts are not new, but still contain unread ...' line on the portal, too. |

I've fixed a minor issue with the neutral box -- test it out and see if it works now. |

Alternatively, what about under the Private Message line in the upper-right corner of the page? There seems to be plenty of real estate there (although some javascript "Are you sure?" box might be in order if it's that accessible). |

Re: Discovered Upgrade Issues
Am I the only one who doesn't get the whole CD-saves-posts-you-haven't-read-as-new-til-forever thing? Every time I leave and come back, all the posts I haven't read are marked as read (just like it used to be). I've cleared my cache and cookies, logged out and back in, and I still don't see this.

Re: Discovered Upgrade Issues
This is talking about the list you get from the "new posts" link on the menu bar, rather than the highlighting of unread posts on the main portal page.

EDIT I tested my idea out that editing the post marks the portal as new, so that might be it. Now if there was a way to see what post was edited (without an invasion of privacy, or other touchy thing) Maybe a way to signify a major (adding something like this) vs minor (spelling) edit? |

Kind of looks weird on some pages, but finally lets me take advantage of my whole screen width. :D |
