The manual says that if any spots are remaining, they may (or may not) be put up for registration by the teams.

I recall there being an open registration period for last year's FVC Championship.

This is only the 3rd year of FVC, so we really don't have any grounds to base it on yet. The first year was a pure pilot, where each of the 56 teams were hand picked, and there was only one event. Last year there wasn't as organized, large, or tiered system as there is this year.

Re: First Vex Challenge Championship Question

We don't know yet, that remains to be seen. It depends on how many slots are available at the FVC Championship, and how many teams earn more than one slot in Atlanta.

Hey we are team 3267 from Unionville High School (very close to your school). We were also at GTA with you. One thing your team can do, is go to the Penn regional. It is during march break. Since york region school board has a PA day before march break, you can use that day to drive to the Penn Regional. In terms of cost, it is $200 for registeration and also hotel and gas cost. You can often get parents to pay for that cost, and share 4 to a room.
Please feel free to contact me at fredliu168@hotmail.com

I hope to see you guys in Penn, it would be more fun with a familiar team.

Please read the manual. As was stated above, per the Manual, Sect. 7.5- For the 2006 Season, FIRST Vex Challenge teams will need to earn their way to the Championship Event.
Eligibility is earned by your performance on and off the field. The following award winners are eligible to
attend the Championship Event:
· FIRST Vex Challenge Winning Alliance Award Winners
· FIRST Vex Challenge Inspire Award Winner
Teams will still be responsible for their own entry fees, lodging, and travel costs to the Championship event. If
there are not enough eligible teams, as described above, to fill the event, FIRST will allow teams to participate
in a lottery for the remaining slots.

Since the Championship Tournaments (qualifiers) are still ongoing, we don't know how many teams who qualify are actually planning to attend. Therefore we do not know at this point how many additional spots will be open to teams who did not qualify. I am sure that FIRST will release an e-mail blast concerning the World Championships once they have information to give us.

You really need to sit down and read all of the information provided in the manual, website, emails, and online forums. Every question you have asked has been answered and addressed in this information. The cost is $1000 for registration, as well as hotels, travel costs, food, etc.

Re: First Vex Challenge Championship Question

Unfortunately, this year there will be no way for a team that was not on a winning alliance or a winner of the Inspire Award to be able to go to nationals. First essentially overbook the FVC Championships and consequently will not be offering other teams a way to pay their way in.
