so ive tried opening the nasa broadcast on windows media player, quicktime, and real player, and i cant open it. error!

Give Windows Media another shot - quicktime didn't work for me either. (And now I'm really jealous of the 2 of my team members in the front row...)

Another way is VLC if you have it.

Copy the link location. Go into open network stream in VLC and use that under http to view it. looks good so far.
