IRI Talent Show!
Remember everyone, the deadline for IRI Talent Show submissions is tomorrow, July 10th! With more teams than ever, I was sure we'd have more entries than last year - but at the moment, we don't! Hurry up, persuade your friends, come up with something funny, and send an e-mail to Talent@IndianaRoboticsInvitational.org describing your act and any equipment you may need (microphones, etc.). It's one of the highlights every year and you can be a part of it!

Re: 2007 Indiana Robotics Invitational
I am obviously way behind the times here, but what is the official ruling on ramp bots and lifters? I searched all over for an official rulebook for IRI but I couldn't find it. Does lifting still give the same amount of points? Does it give any points?

There was no rule change regarding ramps and lifts. Each 'bot over 4" gets 15 points and each 'bot over 12" gets 30 points. We never planned to change that rule. (that's why you could not find any information about it) I did hear a silly rumor a few weeks ago that freaked people out on this, but there is no rule change regarding ramps. The biggest rule change for IRI is that scoring a Keeper in Autonomous is worth more: 15 points. This was announced 2 months ago. Each individual Keeper will give that team's alliance a 15 point bonus. Therefore, the maximum Keeper bonus 1 alliance could get is 45 points (if they scored all 3, of course). Andy B. |

Didn't you guys change if there was a tube under the ramp or robot that it would still count? just double checking.:) |

Yes, but that is not a big rule change... it's just a common sense approach to what "supporting the robot" is. If a robot is touching a tube, and the tube is removed, then if the robot is still supported, then you get the points for the height you are positioned. We are working on a "2007 IRI rules document". This will be sent out within a few days. ---- Still regarding IRI, but changing subjects, one registered and paid team just informed us that they cannot compete. 229 has withdrawn their entry. Some of their team members are attending, but they are not competing. The next team on the waiting list, team 1739 from Chicago, has been asked if they want to compete in 229's spot. We will know shortly if they are in or not. Andy |

Finally, after seeing the end of the tunnel of my 4-H projects (or is that a train?), I'm starting to get jittery about IRI. By Thursday, I'm going to need a good, looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong bike ride to calm my nerves. I'm just starting to jump up and down in anticipation already!:D |
