How about I rephrase my question.

What color are the volunteer shirts. Someone told me that they stay the same every year, and will be lime green?

This is going to be a matching adventure.

Well, volunteers get a shirt for free, otherwise they sell them at the event. I can't remember the cost....

Weekend IRI Weather Forecast

Doesn't look like rain... unlike last year. Last year was nice, until it started raining and peoples' windows were down... including mine;

I like no rain:D It usually makes for nice walking days. And the temperatures will be nice, too (if you don't mind 80 degree weather).

Okay, so since Lacey isn't going to IRI, I'm looking for someone to do my hair. It's short now and really all that needs to be done is to apply the wax in a variety of ways and then spray it with the color. :p

Anyone up for this "challenge"?

PS - I'll possibly throw in a vintage (c. 2002) blue 648 shirt (XL, I think).

Any locals have some ideas for fun things to do on Thursday?

Most 254/968 members will be arriving at around 7 am on Thursday, and we'll have the entire day free. Ideally we'd do something more exciting than sitting around the hotel :P

Re: 2007 Indiana Robotics Invitational

Check out http://www.indy.org or just search for "indianapolis things to do" in google.
You could hang out in White River State Park and the canal... nice area.
There are some go-karting places (nice places)
There are some wall-climbing places (climbtime)
Shopping galore
Children's Museum (largest in the world)
Also check out the calendar of events to see if there's any festivals or otherwise interesting things going on that day.

Any of the above would be a lot better than sitting at the hotel.
Have fun!

Volunteers will get a fresh new design (blank on the color) CREW shirt.

Teams can purchase a fresh new design (blank on the color) shirt.
They are $10.

Both feature the new IRI logo design and our new 'slogan'.

Alliance Captains will also receive a special "Alliance Captain Clothing Item".
Unique, special, and extremely limited edition.

Also, on the walls will be IRI banners with game names and winners from 2000 - 2006.

I don't think the Children's Museum has an IMAX, but I know the State Museum does! Another cool place to go. It's right off the canal too, so you can go to the museum, and check out the canal.

Visit the Speedway and the Museum.
Children’s Museum is great, they have a new maze exhibit and the water clock is a must see.
White River State Park has: State Museum, NCAA Hall of Champions, Eilteljorg Museum of Western Art, and The Zoo.
The Black Expo Summer Celebration is going on downtown.
Lots to do.

I just checked the Indians web site, and it looks like group discounts are available if you have 25 or more. Maybe a few teams could join forces to get the discount? Normal rate is $13 for box seats and $9 for reserved; the group discount gets $2 off either rate. When I checked a minute ago there were still lots of box seats available.

Thanks for the standings. There's some real surprises on this list. Very good distribution of wins means there's lots of room to move araound today. With this field of competitors, even the best can find themselves lower than they're used to being.

1v8 1 wins easally
2v7 close match 7 pulls off the upset
3v6 six wins in 2 hard fought matches
4v5, another good qf series, i expect 4 to win in three

semi finals

1v4, this should be the finals (boo, no reseeding) i don't know whos gonna win, but it will be 3 hard fought matches.i have to o for 1 because im from Florida, but my heart is with 4, so GO 4

6v7 six is a really strong alliance, how did 48 get so high up there, their defense should stop 254, i think from there on out, six can outscore seven from there on out

finals

4v6, oh the drama, here we go again, curie semi finals come back to life, you know this is gonna be good, 4 can end up with the best autonomous trio with 2056 able to score on the other side, hopefully the perfected that

remember autonomous is everything now, with the 15 point bonus this can come in to play as a huge deal

my simple answer

the winner of sm1 WILL win IRI

Re: 2007 Indiana Robotics Invitational

I just watched these alliances get chosen. A bit weird, don't you think? I missed alot of the competition, so I'll ask: did 1114, 330, 254, 148, etc play badly or something? For example 148 lasted until the 3rd round of picking, and 1114 is on the 4th seeded alliance. Not what I was expecting. I was shocked 233 didn't team up with 1114 or 968.

My predictions:

Quarterfinals:

1. 233 71 1902 1732 vs. 8. 703 40 217 121
(Just not enough fire power on 703's alliance to overcome 233+1902. ramps are equal.)

4. 111 1114 2056 494 vs. 5. 968 330 177 910
(177's defense will give 968+330 the advantage they need over 1114. 1114 is essentially all by themselves offensively, while 968+330 can both git'r'done.)

2. 47 33 68 93 vs. 7. 126 254 45 107
(254's ramps will be the key to this victory. 47's alliance is lacking the needed offensive firepower, while 126 has 254+45.)

6. 48 67 469 148 vs. 3. 1720 234 1528 116
(116 will do a great job, and make these matches interesting; however, 67+148, together, will be too strong to overcome.)

Semifinals:

1. 233 71 1902 1732 vs. 5. 968 330 177 910
(Championship Event Grand Semifinals set 330+910 against 233+71. At the championships, 233+71 came out on top, but that will not happen at the IRI here today. 177's defensive/offensive capability just may be the key to 330's victory. 968+330+177 will be on the field.)

7. 126 254 45 107 vs. 6. 48 67 469 148
(Does 148 look like the steal of this competition to you? They do to me. 148 will give 48 the edge they need to overcome 254+45. This is going to be a very good set of matches.)

Finals:

5. 968 330 177 910 vs. 6. 48 67 469 148
(Simply put, 330.)

IRI Winner:

5. 968 330 177 910

I hope someone recorded that. I predict whoever wins the #4 vs #5 seed makes it at least to finals

Mine kicked out too...but I made it back before the end. What an awesome match! Derek, if you aren't there who's in charge of making sure Karthik doesn't screw up? ;)

I don't know enough about the team specs to make a prediction, but I had to go out of the house yesterday and could only watch like 3 matches...

Through my time watching the Q-finals: Holy crap, these are some insane matches

Also, on a less important note... is there a way to watch this feed in NOT real player?

Would Somebody Mind posting a link to watch the match where keepers were scored? I missed it and I would really like to see it. Thanks!

You know that thing Karthik wears around his neck all the time. It's an electric collar, and my finger is always on the button.

I'll pay dearly for a duplicate button. :D

My prediction is alliance 1 goes all the way.
233 and 1902 have both shown what they are capable of in Nats...
the only ones who could stop them are alliances 5 or 4...
Amazing alliances - amazing action!

71 vs. 1114 again. Last year 71 won is an amazing match. What happens now?

3 and 6 at 1-1

Who has it?

Re: 2007 Indiana Robotics Invitational

I say 148 and 67.. but 47 and 33 have been playing so well, I don't even know. 148+67 got "shutdown" by 68 alone? They need to become more agile next round, or they'll be gone (148+67)
