Cool Instrument?
I got this in an email from my dad today and i found it CD worthy. It is very cool looking. Here is one for you Engineering musicians. Here is the email.
This incredible machine was built as a collaborative effort between the Robert M. Trammell Music Conservatory and the Sharon Wick School of Engineering at the University of Iowa. Amazingly, 97% of the machines components came from John Deere Industries and Irrigation Equipment of Bancroft Iowa, yes farm equipment! It took the team a combined 13,029 hours of set-up, alignment, calibration, and tuning before filming this video but as you can see it was WELL worth the effort. It is now on display in the Matthew Gerhard Alumni Hall at the University and is already slated to be donated to the Smithsonian. Located here |
Re: Cool Instrument?
I've seen this e-mail before and its not true. That machine is actually an animation that's part of the animusic DVDs.
Ed has posted about it before: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...light=animusic And you can watch their sample vide at the Animusic website: http://www.animusic.com/dvd-info-clips.html Besides the fact that neither the music conservatory by that name, nor the school of engineering by that name exist at the University of Iowa. |

That is a cool animation, and would be really cool if it was a real machine.
