Field Visibility

I have a feeling that the rack is going to cause some serious driver visibility issues this year, especially once a few ringers are put on it. What do you think?

This is already discussed in many other threads, please search before you post.

Now that that is out of the way, I fully agree with you. Scoring on the other side might possibly be considered blind scoring.

I'm curious as to how all the tubes will affect visibility. Espacially spoilers.

If any team with the resources to do so makes a complete rack, could they post pictures of how the view is to the other side?

The Blue Alliance and FIRSTCast's coverage of the 2007 Kickoff addressed exactly this point in our hands on with the field and game elements.

Check out http://www.thebluealliance.net to watch it on Google Video. The segment you are looking for is near the end, showing the view from the drivers' station with rings on the rack.

Ah, very nice. Okay, so the tubes aren't as bad as I thought, but still an issue. Thanks!

Is it just our team, but when we built the rack, the ringers seem to interfer with putting other ringers on. If you put a ringer on the top layer and put one underneath the first ringer, they seem to interfere. Is this only our team?

At kickoff, tubes had an inch or two of clearance between each other.

Anyone want to try writing code that seeks out empty spider legs and hangs ringers on them autonomously? Add the ability to locate and grab ringers from the opposing alliance station wall, then have the driver sit back and let the 'bot do all the work.

Are the drivers allowed to have a screen that displays the image taken by a camera on the robot?

Sure Alan - Have you seen the clarifications on when you can work on SW in section 8.3.3?

We think we've figured out a way to locate the spider leg and automatically put on the ring. We're working on the rest.

No you can have a camera mounted on the robot if FIRST agrees to it but it can not be transmitted back to the drivers during game play

This happened to our team too.. so looks like a good strategy would be to go up high to mess up with the row below..:D
