Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
OK, v1.0 is officially posted. I see it as a BETA version. I'd like to switch to drop-down lists, but that'll take some studying. Please inform me of any bugs that you find so I can fix them ASAP!
If you play around with it enough you just may find an easter egg;) |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
Nice work. I was working on one earlier.

Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
some possible errors:
i have to double cheack it but spoilers are not countering the score plus also when 2 ringers of same aliance are on a leg i think scores are supose to be null. |

I thought I made it to do that, I'll have to wait till the weekend when I'm at work to check it. |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
Looks good! I expect this to be wildly helpful in explaining my strategy! =)

Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
my elite maglev system has come into place quite well.... engineering award for me
also, nice job. That is some serious skill in excel +1 |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
hi there!
that was a great job... it is working well... but i didn't understand what is written in the white fields... and i have a doubt about the pontuation... my team didn't found any examples with a row formed in the spider legs #8 and #1... so after a lot of discussions, we still don't know if it will be acepted.. thank you bye, and good lucky! I'm glad that some of you are getting a kick out of the 'three elevated bot' bonus. I'm not saying that 3 bots in the air is impossible, just award-worthy in my mind. Just out of curiousity, has anyone else noticed any issues with the scoring? I'd like to be sure what I'm looking for when I go to debug. |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
I must also add that I am quite proud to have the First scoring program to be posted in the papers for the 2nd year in a row...

Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
I must say, I did release v1.0 without any major testing. I was able to play with it for about an hour last night, and I must send my apologies to the 300+ downloaders of this BETA version. If you haven't picked up on the problems, here they are:
-column 3 does not work (simple programming error) -in addition to scoring the columns, it also adds the points per tube (ie, a 2-tube column would equal 8 pts(4-row + 2 per tube)) This was purely an overlooked point in the original programming and will be fixed. Unfortunately, I don't have a computer at home. I made it while I was at work (which is weekends only), and I'm at the library now (which is internet only), and then school doesn't start until next week. However, I will head down to school tomorrow to see if I can use thier computers, if so, v2.0 will be released tomorrow fixing many of the errors that have been found in v1.0, otherwise, it'll have to wait until Saturday. So please, keep your eyes open for a CRITICAL UPDATE post, hopefully sometime tomorrow. |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
This looks great.
I am assuming that the double is to account for spoilers and what is then behind it? Also in the next release could you add a easy reset button? Great work |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
Awesome! Thanks! :)
P.S. Since according to your spreadsheet, we get an engineering award for raising all three bots up, we decided to build a hover craft! P.P.S. I wish. |
CRITICAL UPDATE!!!
Version 2.0 is now posted.
I highly suggest trashing v1.0 and replace it with the new version. The scoring in version 2.0 is much more reliable than in 1.0. In 1.0, columns would add individual points from the tubes as well as the rows, this is no longer the case in 2.0. Also, column 3 just didn't work at all, this is now fixed. I've played around with it a little, but it seems to be working fine for me. IF YOU FIND ANY PROBLEMS, PLEASE POST THEM AND I WILL GET THEM RESOLVED ASAP!!! |

Again, if anybody knows VBA or would be willing to point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. |
CRITICAL UPDATE #2
of course, playing around with the more reliable 2.0, I realized it wasn't adding the top row in addition to the columns, a quick programming change and v2.1 is now released.
ENJOY! |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
I was just curious as to where V2.0 is posted

Thank you very much and the program is very nice and helpful.

CRITICAL UPDATE #3 (and hopefully the last...)
v2.2 is released. I've played with it thouroughly and all seems to be OK. The scoring definately throws you off looking at it quickly, but take a minute, sit back, and really think about what was counted and what is now getting counted, and it all makes sense. (I was driving myself nuts thinking things weren't adding up correctly...)
I do truly feel that v2.2 will give you a very accurate scoring and as always, if you find something wrong, don't hesitate to post it. Also, once again, I would appreciate anyone who knows VBA code to help with a RESET button. What needs to be done is posted earlier in this thread. |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
In version 2.1, if you put a Red Keeper or Ringer on the Top and Middle Row of the 1st Column the score say 6, when it should be 4.
Might want to take a look at that. -Oris- |

Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
I was playing with v1.0 yesterday fixing it to work for me and adding extras.
Reset was something i was looking into, and this is the macro I came up with: Code:
Sub Button1456_Click() |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
Just an FYI for openoffice spreadsheet users, I am having problems getting this to do anything at all. I'll try it once I get to school with excel.
|
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet
Version 3.0 is now posted. It's exactly the same as 2.2.1 only it has a RESET thanks to Spidey.
|
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
This is looking good. I am working on one with a student as well that we hope to complete this week.
I did notice that if you complete a column it is scoring 10 instead of 8 but then it corrects as more are added. Keep up the good work |

P.S.- Brandon, I've tried to delete older versions, but it just won't let me. I really don't mean to be taking up so much space... |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
wow these are awesome.. thanks for gettin them up so fast
|
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet
v3.1 is now up
they're kicking me out of the computer lab for today, so I think I'll be able to check up on things tomorrow night, if not then Friday. I must say THANX and GREAT JOB to all of you who have pointed out the problems and, of course, once again to Spider-Man who gave me the code for the RESET button. TTFN! |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
V 3.1 still adds incorrectly. When you have a row of 8 it = 256, which is correct. But when I remove a tube from position 5, it shows 144, when it should really be a row of 3 and a row of 4 which = 24.

Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v3.2
Rack & Roll Scoring v3.2 is now posted
this resolves the issue of adding rows starting at column 1 to a wrap-around row. Made rows, dropped tubes, added columns, all seems to be working OK. |
Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
I am just kinda curious, if you've downloaded the scoresheet, check out this poll.

Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
It appears on version 3.2 you reversed the Keepers and the Ringers.
I could be wrong, I didn't play with it a whole lot, and I didn't observe it closely. |

The Reset button does nothing =( at least nothing to the current scoring scenarios or the score itself.

Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v3.3
v3.3 POSTED
Unfortunately, after playing yet some more, I noticed that columns 2-8 were scoring as 10 points, not 8. That issue is now fixed. |

Ah I see. Believe it or not my Macros was on but they were set to maximum. Why I have no idea I just lowered it to medium or low and all works fine now.

Re: paper: Rack & Roll Scoring Spreadsheet v1.0
if anyone would like, I would gladly post a version with red and blue MAX score buttons(922 by the way). I have it done, but until I can get older versions of the score sheet deleted from the paper, though, I'd really rather not post any more than necessary.
