Motor with a built in Potentiometer..?
Are we allowed to use a motor with a built in potentiometer in order to control the arm/gripper thingy..? and by use it I mean.. is it allowed..? and would it make sense to use it..?

Re: Motor with a built in Potentiometer..?
Adding a potentiometer to one of the kit motors is legal, and a very good idea if you're interested in being able to automatically control the position of your arm. Using a motor that is not in the kit is not legal.

Re: Motor with a built in Potentiometer..?
If you mean to modify the motor itself that is not allowed, but if you want to add the potentiometer into your system that could have great...potential.

I believe this is addressed in <r46> in the manual. If the motor type is not included in the KOP then its illegal |

Re: Motor with a built in Potentiometer..?
You may couple a pot to the motor shaft, you may couple a pot to the mechanism, you may use an encoder in place of the pot for each of these applications or you may use a microswitch to sense position(s). You may not modify the motor except to modify the mounting under the rules.
