The phone itself is very intuitive.

It's great for people with small business who also have to go to work.

I don't have any major complaints with it yet.

The edge network may not be the fastest, but thats what wifi is for!

I'm not sure how well AT&T is going to be, but perhaps that will also change in the future.

BTW this is my first cell phone and my first Apple product.

Wow. So I guess I'm the only one that had the nightmare on Thursday night where my dad bought a family plan with two iPhones. Yes I said nightmare. I haven't seen one, haven't wanted to touch one, and am just now considering buying an Apple product for the first time (iPod) so I guess it will take a couple of years before I'm jumping up and down waiting for Jobs to come out with the coolest new gadget.

(Btw, I did wake up in a cold sweat after the nightmare, that is how bad I hate this Apple hype.)

I guess if you need a new iPod Video & Phone then I could see the reason for getting one, but otherwise it's a huge price point that I don't like...

I'm probably not going to buy another Apple product for quite some time now anyway, mainly because I would be on the 5th iPod within two years now, except my AppleCare plan ran out, so now I'm screwed. I'm not even hard on my 4th Gen iPod, I guess listening to it everyday is just too much for it to handle. One day it randomly has an incredibly difficult time reading from the hard drive, and this is about the 3rd time this has happened to me...

:sigh: I'm waiting for the Zune v.2

Wow. I Have put my ipod nano throught the washing machine, droped it in a pool, thrown it. droped it countless times. And yet it still works!

What is a bigger scam? The iPhone or PS3!?

Your question is one they will debate for the ages. They both look waaay overpriced. I don't care how much new technology is incorporated into them, a consumer product like that doesn't need to be priced at $600.

$.02

EDN Magazine just came out with an article that describes a teardown of the iPhone. This article claims that the price for the content is $265.83. It also describes who supplied certain parts. I'm amazed that this study could be concluded so quickly.

Can't forget R&D costs and software costs though.

I hear ya! Spoken like a true gearhead!
Just wait till the morons start I-phoning from their cars going down the road!

My phone rings, and records messages... thats all you really need anyway! :yikes:

I've kept my mouth shut, I've seen people troll, and say flat out lies. But for the love of god, it's iPhone, not I-phone, IPhone, or any other combination of ways. iPhone. It's not hard.

Whether you get the Zune or a Video iPod, the problem between the two is the same: hard drives in portable objects. Hard drives by nature are not very fond of shocks, justles, sudden movements, etc., and to use them in a portable music player ensures that the device won't last forever.

(Which was one of the biggest reasons why I originally held off purchasing an iPod until they came out with a decent-sized Flash based one.)

And this is what makes Flash-based media players so much better. Without the moving parts of the mini hard drives in Video iPods or Zunes, they are nearly indestructable. The original iPod Nano survived extreme stunts and still worked. The iPod Shuffle can survive almost anything and still rock on.

This is why I'd consider purchasing an iPhone, but not at least until my current Verizon contract is up in a year and a half. Plus by then, the iPhones will most definitely have more features, more memory storage, hopefully a 3G data connection, and will probably be cheaper. (Anyone remember that the original first-gen iPods were $400 and $500? Now five years later, they're half that price.)
