Drive trains

Which type drive train (in relation to steering) do you think would be better suited for this competition a skid drive(tank style) or a drive train that is based after a cars drive train?

Re: Drive trains

Car drive trains never work. Never. They always have a turning radius of some sort, often several feet, and there is never enough room on the field to make these kinds of manuevers. Can you imagine having to make a 3 point turn every time you wanted to turn around? Or you could easily get pushed sideways against the side of the field and keps there by a robot simply not letting you make a left turn to get pointed away from the border. They're simply not nimble enough to be very successful in FIRST competitions.

Re: Drive trains

I would suggest going with either a 4 or 6wd drivesystem. To be honest, the 4 wheels in the kit I find to be really awesome for kit wheels. If you were wanting to try something new, you could go with a mecanum style drive system.
